"Brian provided a fair and detailed estimate and was able to fit me into his schedule fast. He and Terry replaced the rear part of my post and rail fence with privacy panels and build a new gate. They also removed welded wire for me that I had agreed to do but was unable to. The fence looks great and my dogs are secure. I’m very happy with the work and will call again when I’m ready to start work on my front yard."

"Mr Handyman performed the service as requested. My shutter has been fully repaired as it was prior. My gripe would be that the technician performed the service before my arrival to the site which I did specify in the correspondence I had with the company. Maybe there was miscommunication between the receptionist I spoke with and the technician in the field in relaying my wanting to be there before work was done. Nevertheless, the completed work by the technician was good, and I'd hire them again."

Lawns questions, answered by experts

For minor unevenness, you don't necessarily need to remove grass before leveling. You can apply a topdressing mixture to fill in low areas and even out the surface. However, for more significant unevenness or deep depressions, it might be necessary to temporarily remove the grass to ensure proper leveling and soil compaction. After filling and leveling, you can replace the grass or consider reseeding the area.

The easiest way to remove bushes is first to cut the bush down. You may need to use a handsaw, pruning shears, or a chainsaw for thicker branches. Once you’ve removed most of the branches, you can then cut the base of the shrub as low to the ground as you can get. Then, with a shovel, dig around until you expose the roots. Dig out the roots, being careful not to leave any roots in the soil.

There are a few ways to fix your lawn on a budget, including:

  • Identify the lawn care problem and learn how to seed, fertilize, and aerate your lawn.

  • Reseed old, damaged lawn with new grass that fares better in your environment.

  • Remove grass from your yard so you no longer need to worry about lawn care costs.
