"This company is awesome! They painted my house inside and out flawlessly! They also installed gorgeous vinyl plank flooring and carpet. I can’t say enough about the quality of the work! Workers were great and very efficient. The only glitz was in communication and that was partially because I’m difficult to reach. Would definitely give them a high recommendation!"

"Spiro's Painting did a lovely job, and the porch now looks pristine and clean. Moreover, we no longer have to worry about the exposed wood on the posts and soffits as a result of peeling paint. There were a few hiccups with scheduling, but the team was efficient, tidy, and true to their word about the length of the job. You can paint over lead paint, or “encapsulate” it with a special paint that includes an ingredient called an encapsulant. The EPA approves encapsulation as a lead paint removal method as long as the paint remains undisturbed. Standard types of paint without an “encapsulant” from the big box stores or hardware stores do not meet EPA standards for remediation of lead-based paint.

If you’re painting your home or monitoring a job as it’s being completed, squash the issue ASAP if you notice paint is getting onto the roof. Keeping it clean is one of the keys to extending your roof’s life.

Removing latex paint before it dries is much easier and lowers the risk of damaging your shingles (more on that below). Simply spray the spot with a hose for one to two minutes to clear away the drying paint. In general, this is a good way to remove ugly stains from your roof without using chemicals.

Sanding paint that contains lead is never safe, and sanding modern paints can still be hazardous. However, you can protect yourself by wearing a high-quality respirator during the process or by using a wet-sanding technique. You can wet the wall and then sand or use a wet sanding tool to achieve this.

You can apply stain over peeling stain, but it’s not a good idea. Your old stain will get in the way of your new stain bonding to the wood, so you’re likely going to see the same issue again shortly after application. Your best option is to sand off the old stain and clean the surface thoroughly before applying new stain.
