"We're very happy with the work done by The Contractors Inc. Our kitchen cabinet doors had been painted as part of a previous remodeling, but the cabinet door paint cracked due to the uneven expansion/contraction of the wood pieces. We had 3 companies give us estimates for replacing the doors and the fair (though not cheap) price and attitude of the folks from The Contractors made it an easy choice. It took about 10 weeks for the cabinet doors to arrive after they took the measurements and placed our order. This was slightly longer than the estimated 8 weeks but it was also during the COVID-19 lockdown period. Jeremiah and Amy did the installation. They did an outstanding job on the installation. They installed the 18 doors in about 4 hours. There was one door that wouldn't properly close, but Jeremiah must have made about a dozen adjustments to finally get it right. The new doors look great and the paint match to the cabinets was perfect. I highly recommend The Contractors Inc!!!"
"Mr. Diaz was great to work with - he and his crew repainted the entire interior of our home and installed all new wood flooring throughout. His attention to detail was much appreciated - they painted the interiors of the closets and did a very thorough job throughout our new home. We love our new hardwood flooring - he did a great job of matching the finish of the engineered hardwood on the lower level with the hardwood flooring on the upper levels. They left the home spotless after all the work was done! We would hire again."
"We thought hard about replacing or refacing our 36-year old cabinets for our large-sized kitchen with a cooking island and desk. We decided that it would be better to utilize our existing strong hardwood cabinet boxes and have them refaced. If I could give more stars for Kitchen Saver, I would! Our carptenter/installer Reid was fabulous! His attention to detail superb, workmanship top-notch, cleanliness excellent, plus he was pleasant and punctual. So nice to see a young person taking such pride in their work. And, we are thrilled with the look of our new kitchen!!!"
"After several moves with the military to our forever home, we wanted to have our furniture cosmetically touched up, as it had incurred some nicks and scratches, with a few faded areas from heavy use. The kitchen in our new house also had been refinished several years ago, but the previous owners had been rough with the cabinets, leaving some scrapes and scratches. Eric did a fantastic job touching up all our furniture, which looks so much better now that all the scratches are filled and the faded areas blended. The cabinets in our gourmet kitchen look brand new. The cost was very reasonable, all the work was conveniently done in our home, and Eric was extremely knowledgeable and patient with all my questions. Getting an estimate via email with photos and scheduling was easy as well--it's just a great all-around local company worth supporting. Other companies wanted us to bring the furniture to them and had very high quotes just for a few pieces. I'm so happy I found them and my home feels so much more polished now."
"I wish I'd known about Manna sooner. Had I known how great they were, I wouldn't have lived with all the annoyances (big and small) that come with home ownership. We had a long punch list of items to tackle: a cabinet door that didn't close properly, a front door that didn't latch easily, a hairline crack in the drywall, a light fixture that needed replacing, smoke alarms that needed replacing, two sinks that drained slowly, algae on the siding, moss on the roof--all handyman tasks that Manna's team addressed efficiently and effectively! And then there were the painting tasks: sanding, priming and painting exterior doors, removing a very stubborn wallpaper border, mudding, sanding, priming and painting that room. Everything was all done to our complete satisfaction. Herbert, the owner, provided a detailed estimate, always let us know when workers would arrive and when the job would be completed, and visited the worksite each day. The team was respectful, tidy, and a pleasure to work with. The price was fair and the work was excellent. Highly recommend."
"The company was awesome! I needed 2 drawers made for my kitchen cabinet. I couldn't find any other company that would make just the 2 drawers. Every company who came just wanted to give me a whole new kitchen which I didn't want. But E&V understand my needs and got it done quickly and I no longer have the unpleasant sight of 2 gaping hole in my kitchen cabinets. Thank you E&V!"
"They made sure it was done correctly and high quality. They worked with our ideas and created the best looking master bathroom I've ever seen including Pinterest. Everyone was friendly and attentive to our needs. The project came in on budget. We've done remodel on 7 houses and they are one of the best contractors. Highly recommend!"
"We recently refaced our kitchen cabinets with Cabinet Restoration Company. We had a wonderful experience right from the start when we met with Pete to review the project to the completion of the project with Steve who like the previous reviewer wrote is a master craftsman and takes care of the smallest detail to perfection. The communication was always timely - before and during the project, they resolved all issues to our satisfaction and completed the project on time. The end result was above and beyond our expectations. We highly recommend them as we would definitely use them again for our next project."
"They were prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable. I asked for a closet rebuild, a popcorn ceiling removed and replaced, and a front door to be replaced. All work was was done well and in a timely manner. I will be scheduling Jim Ness Handyman for several other jobs."
"Note this review is for removing carpet and replacing with corelux floors in about 400 sq feet and recaulking and reglazing 2 bathrooms. Very professional and understanding of my budget needs. Juan was super patient with me; I modified the quote request about 10 times. His crew was kind, careful with clean up and ensuring they had drop cloths over as many areas as possible and always took their shoes off if walking on uncovered floor. They stuck to the timeline and budget. Couldnâ t be happier!"
Different types of closets are defined mostly by size. A few different types of closets include:
A reach-in closet is a smaller closet that you can stand in front of and reach everything inside it. Aside from the size, the doors and the level of drywall finish are typically the largest price factors.
A walk-in closet can be anything from a small 5-by-5 feet closet that has a narrow walkway with shelves on both sides to a 100 square foot bedroom-sized closet with shelving along the walls and plenty of room to move around in.
A built-in wardrobe often does not have a door and leaves the clothes and other contents open to the room, whereas a closet usually has a door to separate it from the rest of the room.
Plywood offers excellent stability and strength for drawer construction. Baltic birch plywood provides a premium appearance, while standard hardwood plywood offers good value. Solid wood works well but requires more attention to grain direction and seasonal movement.
You can design your own closet, but it’s usually better to hire a professional to do the work for you. Not only will you get years of design experience to guide you toward the right layout and material choices, but you’ll also only pay slightly more hiring a professional than you would creating your own plans and hiring a carpenter. A high-quality closet designer can provide insight into how to lay out your closet, and they may be able to find you a good deal on the carpentry or complete the work using an affordable, in-house team.
You may need a building permit to add a closet, depending on the size and kind of work required to install it. The most likely scenario requiring a permit involves changing the structure of the house and performing electrical work for closet lighting. A permit can cost between $100 and $450. If you’re installing a smaller reach-in closet, a permit may not be required, but always check with your local municipality and consult a closet designer or builder.
Common materials include wood, laminate, and wire. Choose based on durability, style, and budget.
