"GREAT PLACE!  Two years ago, a neighbor recommended Baldino's when I wanted to change the locks on my home.  Their Clarendon branch performed that service (promptly and with great customer service!).  
This time, I needed to unlock a pricey suitcase that I inadvertently locked while I was changing the lock's combination.  I called the manufacturer first.  They suggested that perhaps a locksmith could do it, sparing me the $75 it would cost me to ship it to them for repair.  So, I called Baldino's main line, explained the problem, and they recommeneded Chris at the Landmark location.  They said he was one of their most experienced locksmiths, and they were sure he could handle this. And he did!  Took him only a few minutes. Both Chris and the colleague he was working with at the shop (part time, retired Pentagon guy) were very polite, friendly, answered my questions and didn't make me feel silly for accidently locking the suitcase!  I'd go back anytime.  I'll be sure to use them for any future needs.

Rekeying is typically cheaper than replacing locks. Professional rekeying costs between $40 and $160, sometimes with an additional fee of $15 to $40 per lock. A locksmith's hourly rate averages around $75. If you do it yourself, a rekeying kit can cost as little as $10. In contrast, replacing a lock costs between $130 and $500, with an average of around $315, depending on the hardware and lock type. Rekeying is a simpler process that changes the key for your existing lock without replacing the hardware. It is a good option if you have a quality lock that works well, you've recently moved, you've lost a key, or you need a quick security upgrade. The best choice depends on the condition of your current locks.

If part of the key is protruding out of the lock, you can use a pair of needle-nosed pliers or tweezers to gently turn the key in the lock to open the door. If the key is fully inserted into the lock, you may also be able to use a key extractor to help turn the key into the unlocked position. 

But if the key breaks off halfway into the lock or you simply can’t reach it to help engage the unlocking mechanisms, you should probably call a professional.

When you take a key to a hardware store or a locksmith for copying, you can expect the key-cutting process to take as little as 30 seconds. The key copier will review your current key to decide on the correct blank. Then, your original key and the blank are inserted into a key duplication machine to cut an exact key copy. When it’s all said and done, you can have a new key in your hand in just a couple of minutes.

Deadbolts are solid and durable as can be, but the pin and tumbler can still be forced open, thus making this type of lock susceptible to picking. Most types of deadbolts are harder to pick than a traditional spring-based lock, though. It requires a specialized lock pick and a tension wrench to align all of the pins, thus unlocking the door.
