"I can't say enough about Apex Remodeling and Henry Del Valle. I just had my first pleasant experience with a contractor. We got 3 bids to paint our entire house -- we're selling and moving out of state. Apex Remodeling was the middle-priced bid, but the most extensive proposal. His bid included painting all ceilings, which the others didn't. He also proposed fixing all the wall and ceiling surfaces (nail holes, cracks, nail pops, settlement cracks, etc.) The others only had nail holes and pops. There was also one bathroom that had been wallpapered on three walls and the ceiling -- that's right the ceiling. When I had removed the paper last year, there were a lot of tears and gouges which I tried to skim coat (which is my worst DIY talent). As a result, the walls and ceiling looked terrible. There were two patches in the dining room ceiling from plumbing leaks which I also patched (enough said) and a patch in the powder room ceiling from replacing the exhaust fan. Henry (the owner) included repairing all of these on his proposal. The patches are perfection and cannot be seen. The patch in the powder room was done by replacing the entire ceiling instead of just the patch. He also found some dry rot in the exterior front door trim. He replaced it at no extra charge, saying he couldn't paint over it in good conscience. Said he would go contractor's hell if he did. (With that attitude he just might be the only contractor in heaven.) He originally told us the job would take 5 days -- Monday thru Friday-- and his guys would cover everything in the master bedroom each morning and put it all back before they left. My wife and I decided to stay in a hotel instead and told him on Monday. He was very grateful because it would make the job much easier on his guys and in return he increased the crew from 6 guys to 8 so that we could get back in our home earlier. Again, at no extra cost. So, if you're looking for any home repair or remodeling, I highly recommend this guy. They do more than just painting. And he doesn't use subcontractors. All of his crews are employees."

"The owner seemed really nice, but came to my home in a suit, and quoted a price of $800 without even inspecting the roof. He sent me an itemized quote for a roof replacement, a price quote for a repair of whatever they might find $1300, and then a price quote for a repair. However, when I asked for detailed quote for repairing my roof (the issue was water spots in an upstairs ceiling...in one spot...all other areas of the house...had no leaks or spots). He basically told me that there are only a few issues that it "could be" and if there were any other issues, he would be able to fix them as well for the price he quoted. Well, I thought that I would have an inspection of the roof, which would include the "specific issue," not a figure that was all inclusive of what might be found...once someone actually took the time to go up on the roof and find out what the actual problem was. I called another contractor who went up and inspected my roof, took photos, discussed what would be done, and after going to get what was needed for my particular issue, fixed the problem, for $250. The prices did not include (interior work...for either company...like getting rid of the water spots in my ceiling, which the other contractor told me how to repair and also checking the small attic space for damage (which this company didn't mention). The other contractor that I choose will come back to take a look at the interior and repair/replace any damaged or wet areas or installation. Although it is nice to see a well dressed man in a suit, for me it would have be better to have someone come prepared to actually go up on the roof and assess any damage, then give a well informed quote for my specific issue."
