"The owner seemed really nice, but came to my home in a suit, and quoted a price of $800 without even inspecting the roof. He sent me an itemized quote for a roof replacement, a price quote for a repair of whatever they might find $1300, and then a price quote for a repair. However, when I asked for detailed quote for repairing my roof (the issue was water spots in an upstairs ceiling...in one spot...all other areas of the house...had no leaks or spots). He basically told me that there are only a few issues that it "could be" and if there were any other issues, he would be able to fix them as well for the price he quoted. Well, I thought that I would have an inspection of the roof, which would include the "specific issue," not a figure that was all inclusive of what might be found...once someone actually took the time to go up on the roof and find out what the actual problem was. I called another contractor who went up and inspected my roof, took photos, discussed what would be done, and after going to get what was needed for my particular issue, fixed the problem, for $250. The prices did not include (interior work...for either company...like getting rid of the water spots in my ceiling, which the other contractor told me how to repair and also checking the small attic space for damage (which this company didn't mention). The other contractor that I choose will come back to take a look at the interior and repair/replace any damaged or wet areas or installation. Although it is nice to see a well dressed man in a suit, for me it would have be better to have someone come prepared to actually go up on the roof and assess any damage, then give a well informed quote for my specific issue."
