"Todd, the owner took my call and gave me a quote to install recessed lights and track lights and switchs. He was very thorough, professional courteous. He gave me a very reasonable quote on my first call and set up a convenient time for installation..He gave me a reminder call the day before and a few minutes before arriving his staff arrived. The electricians were very professional and put down protective measures to keep the area clean, They minimized the area that had to be cut in the wall to do the wiring for the 3 new Recessed Lights and Switches. They covered the work area with plastic and cleaned up after the job. I highly recommend this C.T. Smith Electrical Services, LLC for timely, quality, electrical work. I am a happy satisfied customer and give them a five-star rating and recommendation."

"The salesman missed the first appointment scheduled for 10:00 April 23 - received call from officie at 9:10 He had emergency.scheduled next appointment for April 28 at 10:00 and salesman showed  20 minutes late. He got stuck in traffic.
Salesman was very honest about the deal I had purchased the 6 landscaping lights for $649. I could take the deal but I would be calling again to add additional lights. His ideas were right on and what type of lights and where to put them. The job was scheduled for May 6 and it would take 2 days. They called to say they could come out earlier and they did and installed all of the lights in a day and a half. The lights look great and one of the lights went out just a few weeks ago and I called and they were out the next day. There is a 5 year warranty on the lights.

"Very responsive, a professional and very pleasant mechanic, excellent work, a bit exspensive, over $500.00 for 5plugs. The problem is they failed to fix the plug that was dead and failed to investigate or repair the flickering lights. I still have no idea if there is a fire hazard due to an electrical short. They did not appear to have any interest in dealing with the issue. Bottom line: I now have to hire another electrician. I originally chose Palmer because they are local, were very responsive to my inquiry and had an excellent rep per Angie's List. It is unclear to me why they were unwilling to complete the job. In any event, they failed me. I will identify and retain another electrician, just not through Angie's List . They failed me as well."

"Eric and team did an excellent job of making a 20 year old red pavers walkway look new again. He landscaped the front of our house with beautiful river jack rocks and ensured symmetry with the red step to the front entrance. All requests were accommodated and the project was professionally managed and completed."

"We cannot be happier with the way our backyard looks thanks to Kurt and his people. Every morning I look out from my bedroom window and love what I see. Kurt was a pleasure to work with. He was totally straight forward and did what he promised he would on time and on budget. Besides high level of integrity he is a most knowledgeable professional. He brought to our attention several options for hardscape and landscape we had not thought about materials we were not familiar with and provided a number of alternatives for us to choose from. During the implementation of the project he kept in touch with us every step of the way so we knew exactly what would be happening at all times. He came to see the project and discuss with the crew every morning. His crew was most efficient knowledgeable polite and responsive. Actually, at the end of every day they would ask what we thought and whether we were happy with what they had done that day. A few times we pointed out some detail we wanted done differently and they went ahead and did it for us right away. The job was finished over a month ago and Kurt is still answering any message we send him regarding the project. What a difference it makes dealing with a high integrity professional and a fully trained crew. Kurt's business will be our choice for any other hardscape and landscape projects we have in the future.

"Don't be put off by the price tag on our work!  We had a HUGE amount of landscaping done to our property and this was a major investment.  We had the entire front, sides, and back of our house torn up and redone.  The prices of DJA Landscape & Irrigation are very reasonable.  Jeff Friedman, the president of DJA, met with my husband and myself multiple times to work out the many landscaping challenges we faced.  Jeff came up with great ideas we had not thought of.  He designed the walkways and lighting, and helped us choose products that met both our practical and aesthetic needs.  Jeff is not only highly skilled at what he does, but he also has a great eye for design and is creative in his approach.
Jeff and his team are reliable and dependable.  They showed up when they say they would.  They cleaned up after themselves.  Weather permitting, they showed up every day until the project was completed.  Jeff was on site every day supervising his crew and making sure the work was done right.  Jeff kept us informed either personally or via e-mails throughout the entire process.  We couldn't have had a more positive experience.
The bottom line is that our yard, both the front, sides, and back look GORGEOUS.  The walkways/lighting, field stone walls, and fence are elegant.  We are very proud owners of a house that is now as beautiful on the outside and it is on the inside.  We strongly recommend DJA Landscape & Irrigation.  We trusted Jeff and his company with a very big project and we couldn't be more pleased with the excellent service and the outstanding results.

Lighting questions, answered by experts

Yes, outdoor lights and receptacles should be on a ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) for safety. The outdoors is considered a wet location where GFCI protection is generally required. A GFCI enhances safety by automatically tripping and shutting off the circuit if it detects an imbalance, which protects against electrocution and reduces the risk of an electrical fire. While it is the safest approach for all outdoor electrical components, specific requirements can vary depending on the type of light (e.g., pool lights), its location, and local electrical codes. For guidance tailored to your specific situation, it's best to consult a professional electrician.

If your lights are shorting out during rain storms or other winter events, you should probably replace them. These shorts indicate electrical issues that could cause serious hazards. Look for outdoor-rated lights with connectors made for rainy conditions to replace them. But if your Christmas lights are new and you want further protection, you can find weatherproof covers to add to the male-end connectors of your Christmas light strings. These can minimize the risk of shorts.

DIY is possible for minor issues like bulb replacement. Professional services ensure proper wiring and functionality.

While most general electricians can repair lamps and light fixtures, it is often better to hire a lamp repair specialist. Many electricians prefer larger jobs, such as fixing electrical systems or relocating fixtures, and may not offer lamp repair services due to the small scale of the work. Additionally, some lamps, particularly antique models, require dedicated expertise that a general electrician might not have. A lamp repair specialist will be familiar with various types of fixtures and can provide a more dedicated service. If you have already hired an electrician for a larger project, you can ask them to look at your lamp, but for a standalone repair, a specialist is typically the best option.

Table lamps, floor lamps, chandeliers, desk lamps, and antique or decorative light fixtures that hold sentimental or aesthetic value are commonly repaired.
