"Very pleased. First, Joseph gave good advice regarding the repairs - an approach I hadn't thought of. Work was done to my satisfaction. He was on time, cleaned up as he went and was very professional and pleasant to work with. Have hired for another job."

"I had an incredible experience with B&D Construction and highly recommend them! They handled a large drywall repair, painting, framing, and subfloor repair at my home, and the quality of their work was flawless. Pete, who runs the company, is an amazing guyâ honest, hardworking, and unbelievably accommodating. Due to a time crunch on my end, Pete went above and beyond to push his team and complete the job in record time, without ever compromising on quality. Their pricing was very reasonable, and the craftsmanship was outstanding from start to finish. If you're looking for a construction company that delivers top-notch results with excellent customer service, look no further than B&D Construction. They exceeded my expectations in every way!"

"I can't say enough about Harry! He completely renovated my (total gut job) rental. He stripped the house down to the framing, including replacement of loadbearing walls! The entire house is brand new and beautiful! He is trustworthy, reasonably priced and takes much pride in his work! Harry has also completed many projects in my residence! I promise, you will not be disappointed!"

"I called JES Foundation Company for a free inspection of my crawl space. I was concerned about a crack in my foundation wall. JES inspector Richard Sheman Showed up to inspect my foundation. He sent a text with the time of his arrival. He was pleasant and on time. He went into my crawlspace and inspected the crack in the wall and stated I had nothing to worry about. He was very knowledgeable about the foundation and itâ  s structure. He explain to me how I could fix the superficial settling crack and save a bunch of money. I appreciate the honesty of the business and I would recommend it to anyone who had the same concerns, and for any of their other services. Ron P Home owner."

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

Small retaining walls still require a foundation of some kind, typically a concrete footing. This helps to ensure the wall is structurally sound and prevents the ground from shifting over time, especially during those winter freeze/thaw cycles. The footing helps spread the weight of the wall and the load it carries over a larger area of the ground, thus assisting with stability. This is true of small retaining walls, larger rock garden walls, and the like.

There are contractors specifically trained in the design and construction of retaining walls. Retaining wall contractors are skilled at dealing with the soil on your property and assessing what kind of drainage should be installed. They will recommend the best materials to use for the project and can handle the processing of permits by local authorities.

Generally, a railroad tie retaining wall consisting of a single line of ties should be between 3 and 4 feet tall—and the height often tops out at around 6 feet. You can go taller, but you may need additional footings and reinforcements, including a second layer of railroad ties to support the added weight of the soil it’s holding back.

Yes, you can use cinder blocks for many purposes, including retaining walls, foundations, garage walls, and fences. Building a cinder block retaining wall costs between $60 and $200 per linear foot, including materials and professional labor. For a 30-foot-long retaining wall, the cost ranges from $1,800 to $6,000.

They prevent soil erosion, add flat space, and enhance property aesthetics.
