"American Awnings was great. We needed to replace the fabric on our SunSetter awning and unlike the other guys that tried to convince us to replace the entire awning Anthony told us straight out that our awning mechanics were still in good shape.100% I would send my family and friends to him!"

"The service went extremely well. The price was not the cheapest, but I think it was the best value for the money. I have been tremendously pleased with the service. We had a problem with the screen door on the sliding glass door that I had done. They came out until it was fixed. They eventually had to replace the screen door."

"A new doorknob and lockset was ordered and was supposed to be included with the installation but after the door was installed it was discovered that no doorknob was with the new door. The installer had to go buy the doorknob and return to complete the installation which may have caused him to rush the job because the storm door was not replaced properly . I had to wait about almost a week for the installer to return and fix the problem. I then discovered that the entrance door was also sticking but I did not report this to the company because at this point I was just disgusted not only with the installation but also with the flimsy quality of the steel door which is a thin gauge of steel, very lightweight and very easily dented. This was one of Angie's Super deals that I had paid in advance for without ever checking the quality of the door first. I will never pay up front for any service again.
I have had the same company install all mu home's replacement windows about 7 years ago and I was so completely satisfied that I guess my expectations were too high for the same result with a replacement door.

"After getting estimates from about 7 other companies I had a pretty good idea that I wanted Marvin Integrity windows, which narrowed my search down to companies certified to install Marvin windows. I'd read enough reviews to know that the installation was key to any job and thus the price alone was not the only factor to consider. In addition, I only spoke to companies with high marks on Angie's list!
I had a budget calculated based on multiple upgrades of vinyl until I realized I should just go the extra step up to fiberglass - hence the Integrity line of fiberglass. I have to say that this purchase was brutal in the sense that the competition among the local vendors was fierce. I received multiple call backs throwing dirt this way and that but I was sure about my requirements and my research on Marvin, Integrity and the fiberglass choice. It was then that I selected Hammer and Nail over the other local vendor - in the area - who initially would not deal with my top treatments nor alarm system but came in later to say they would since H/N added it to their contract without issue. I do not believe in playing games and so went with the company that played straight with me. In the end, although I initially paid a bit more to H/N for the job, I got everything included even when there were a few glitches - there were no hidden charges - no surprises and they went the extra mile to make sure all was working properly prior to leaving.
The only down side was the Reston Association paperwork - which was not filed timely causing delays in installation. This type of thing does happen so I just dealt with it. The job finished several months later than expected but a September install is actually better weather wise than a July install, so in the end, all was fine.
The install went very smoothly with 4 guys on site for 3 days and a project manager coming by here and there. For this type of work the clean up done was reasonable - with some left for me to do afterwards (washing the floors) to be expected after windows are taken out. All in all, cloths were put down and the debris removed; dust kept to a minimum and vacuumed at the end of each day. And, I love my new fiberglass windows and patio doors!

"The biggest problem I had with this company was responsiveness before the work was done. After calling them to use the coupon, it took a while to get them to my house to do an estimate. Then it took over a week to actually get the estimate so I could schedule the work. And then two weeks to get on the schedule.
With that said, the person they sent did a FANTASTIC job. I had a section of rotted wood above my entry door and it had been a problem area for years apparently. The last time I had to have the wood replaced the previous owners had not told me about termite damage behind this section. Anyway, this time around the service person said that we would fix it right.
He scraped out all of the damaged wood and replaced the damaged section with a PVC-based solution so I'll never have to worry about it rotting again. All I have to do is keep it painted and caulked.
I'm VERY happy. It looks great. He was very pleasant, friendly, professional. He explained everything to me and he worked until he finished.
The likelihood that the 3 hours included in the coupon will cover your work when there is rot involved --it took 6 hours and the materials cost $160.00. With that said, it could've ended up costing a lot more so I definitely recommend taking advantage of the coupon deal if they offer it again.

"Excellent! I asked him to quote me on how much it would cost to replace a window and he actually drove all the way to my house to see for himself. The window was replaced that same day. The price he billed me was a third of the price that I was quoted from two other repairmen."

"It went great. The door on the screened porch was disintegrated and needed to be replaced. He arrived on-time and started working. The door size we had purchased (the closest size door they had) was way off and, he could have just asked us to buy a different door. Instead, he was able to send us with a list of supplies, then he managed to modify the porch wall, re-screen the door area of the porch wall, and then hang the new door. He did a beautiful job."

While the terms deck and porch are often used interchangeably, they are two distinct home features. Porches offer a roof that protects from the elements when coming and going from the house. Generally, porches are on the front of your home. On the other hand, decks are generally built in the backyard of a home and offer no roof or protection from the elements, like rain or snow. Porches typically require less maintenance and upkeep thanks to the roof, but both features require regular cleaning and repairs to maintain good condition.
The cost of an awning is $1,400 to $4,400 on average. However, this cost could be as low as $100 or as high as $7,500, depending on a few factors. The type of awning you choose, the size you need, and your location all affect your overall cost.
For example, portable awnings you can put up and take down yourself range from $100 to $400, whereas motorized awnings are more luxurious and cost between $2,000 and $3,500.
The cost to build a deck is $8,025 on average. However, this cost can range anywhere from $1,500 to $22,000, depending on multiple factors, such as size, materials, and deck type. You can expect to pay $30 to $60 per square foot when building a new deck.
Cedar decks are often the most cost-effective option, ranging from $4 to $9 per square foot for materials. However, pressure-treated decking, which is resistant to rot, is more expensive, ranging from $15 to $25 per square foot for materials.
Awnings are either fixed or retractable and can be paired with a variety of cover materials. Fixed awnings are a permanent outdoor feature of a building. These are highly durable and require ongoing maintenance. Once installed, the position of this awning cannot be changed.
Retractable awnings are more popular than fixed awnings since the cover can open and close. This allows homeowners to open and close the awning, depending on the weather. When not in use, it can be closed to allow for extra space.
Besides the type of awning, you’ll need to choose the type of cover. Your awning installation professional will review your options with you, including availability and costs. The types of covers you can choose from include:
Wood, which is durable but can be damaged easily by rainwater and fire
Cotton offers flexibility, weatherproofing, and easy cleaning
Canvas is highly durable and is a good choice for retractable awnings
Metal is sturdy but is prone to rust
Polyester is easy to clean and is a more breathable option
Polycarbonate is highly resistant to UV rays and is difficult to damage
