"Mike came out prompty to look at the damaged siding. Came out a second time to show me color samples for the replacement siding. Told me when the siding would be received and came out today and did the work. He and his helper cleaned up after the work was done. They did an excellant job of fixing the siding. He had given me a very reasonable estimate. I have asked him for an estimate to replace the roof and will have him do the work. Very professionable and friendly. I will recommend him to friends and family for any work they might need done."

"We finally decided to get our 20-year old deck repaired and called CBJ for an estimate. Bill responded quickly, explained the process, gave us great suggestions and a very good estimate. Pablo and his crew started the next day and finished in 3 days. The deck looks amazing. We are so happy with it and can't wait for our first cook-out. Highly recommend Bill and CBJ!"

"Needed to have my deck stained. They provided a reasonable price. They cleaned and sanded deck. I?m glad they educated me on the oil stain. The oil stain, Ready Seal, looks great. The man who stained the deck did an outstanding job. He was very detailed in ensuring the stain was evenly spread. Great Job Leonpro!"

"He did both pressure washing and cleaning of patio as well as fixed many small issues I had before the sale of my house both in and outside. HIGHLY recommend. Would use his services again in a heartbeat. His work is fast, efficient and prices are more than fair."

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

PVC decking tends to be cooler than composite because the material is less dense and absorbs less heat. However, it depends on the deck’s color. A dark-colored PVC deck may run hotter than a light-colored composite deck. If you’re concerned about your deck getting too hot, it’s best to stick to a light color such as beige or gray.

Cold temperatures can make your deck boards contract. If they don’t contract evenly, they can put pressure on the deck screws and cause them to pop out, making a noticeable sound. Winterizing your deck can help prevent this from happening.

Yes, you can draw your own deck plans in many cases. However, you must know your local building codes and be familiar with carpentry principles. Even then, it's always best to run your plans by a professional contractor with experience building decks, whether you choose to DIY some of the build or not.

Before installing any materials under the deck for removing moisture, you should perform some prep work on the ground. Work the dirt under the deck to create a grade away from the home. A grade of at least six inches for every 10 feet works well. Do not leave a gap between the dirt and the home’s foundation where water could pool. Once you or a contractor regrades the dirt under the deck, you then can add materials over the top.

Rot loves moisture, so deck rot typically impacts the parts of a board that stay wet. This includes the underside of boards, in addition to support posts and joists. However, any part of a board can rot, given the right conditions.
