Over the last several years we have noticed cracks and crevices in our downstairs ceilings that were getting larger with each passing year. Moyses from Nicolle Paint came out and identified the problem and gave us a fair and competitive estimate. They started their work after completely containing the affected rooms with tape and drop clothes. When they finished, we were amazed and wished we had done the repairs sooner. One of the biggest downsides to peel-and-stick wallpaper is that it doesn’t last quite as long as traditional wallpaper. The life span of peel-and-stick wallpaper is about five years, depending on the quality of the wallpaper and how well you prep the wall before applying. The good news is that, because of its shorter lifespan, peel-and-stick wallpaper is a great choice for people who enjoy switching up their interiors more frequently.

You can hide wallpaper seams when painting by applying joint compound over them and then sanding thoroughly until smooth. You’ll want to apply two layers of compound, allowing for four to eight hours between coats. Do a light sanding between coats and then after the final coat is dry. Once the compound dries completely, you can begin priming and painting the wall.

You can paint over wallpaper, but it’s not usually recommended, especially if the wallpaper underneath is textured or dirty.
