The law office of Douglas W. Harold, Jr. has been serving clients in Shenandoah Valley and the surrounding area for more than 30 years. Our legal services are focused primarily on Chapter 7 bankruptcy and low-cost divorce. These times in our lives aren’t easy. But isn’t nice to know there’s someone here who can help? Practice areas include: • Bankruptcy—Chapter 7 only • Uncontested divorce I have been actively practicing law for approximately 30 years, and have maintained a private law practice in Frederick County, VA, for approximately the past 20 years. I received my law degree from George Washington University School of Law in 1980, and graduated number one in my law school class. Before receiving my law degree, I was an active duty Naval Officer and served in a variety of technical and managerial positions before retiring from active duty in 1981 with 20 years of military service. In addition to my law degree, I have an undergraduate degree (Bachelor of Science) in physics and a graduate degree (Master of Science) in electrical engineering. I am a member of the Bar of the United States Supreme Court, the Virginia State Bar, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, the Federal and Bankruptcy Bars for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia, and the Washington, D.C. Bar (currently inactive). For the past fifteen years I have maintained an active law practice in the consumer bankruptcy area, and have handled in excess of 2,000 Chapter 7 bankruptcies during that time. Virtually every bankruptcy that I have handled has been approved by the Bankruptcy Court, and I have developed a reputation for integrity and competence with the bankruptcy trustees and the Bankruptcy Court Judge, which has materially benefited my many clients. I work independently, with no support staff, which means that clients will always deal directly with me concerning their legal issues, without having to go through a secretary or other screening process in order to contact me. This also means that I am able to keep my fees reasonable, due to the reduced overhead expenses associated with my practice. I answer my own telephone and, if I am not immediately available to the phone, I always return telephone messages. I am very direct in my approach to clients. I believe that clients contact me in order to receive the most accurate and honest advice and guidance possible, and I do not sugar coat my advice or guidance to my clients. You may not always be pleased with the outcome of a particular legal proceeding or with the advice that I provide, but you can be assured that I will always represent you honestly and diligently, and will exert my best efforts to achieve the desired result. If you meet the eligibility standards for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, I would be pleased to represent you in connection with that matter. Call my office for a free telephone consultation—I will be pleased to speak with you!

Animal Fencing questions, answered by experts

Maintain your wattle fence by inspecting it at least twice per year for loose weaving and degrading branches. Replace any seriously degraded sections, ensure water drains properly around the posts, and trim any sprouting branches if you used green wood. If you notice the weave loosening, you can often tighten it by gently pushing down on the top branches. You can also apply a natural wood preservative every two to three years to extend the fence's lifespan.

Chain link fences last 20 years on average, which is five to 10 years longer than wood fences. With proper care and maintenance, your chain link fence could last 30 years. If you purchase a chain link fence with vinyl-coated mesh or galvanized steel, the lifespan could be even longer.

You can DIY a stockade fence installation, but prepare to put in some good sweat equity. For the best results, carefully plan the exact location of your fence before you break ground. In particular, carefully map out your post locations before setting them in concrete. Be sure to call your local utility company before digging to avoid damaging underground wiring and causing severe injury.

On the other hand, installing stockade fencing on your own might sound too overwhelming. It’s certainly time-consuming and labor-intensive. Besides the hard work, you must install it properly to avoid gaps. Unless you’re confident you can get the job done right, hiring a privacy fence installer near you is the way to go.

You should stain both sides of your fence to get the full benefits. Fences often fall along property lines, so you may want to save a buck by leaving your neighbor’s side in the dust. If you do that, all you get is a slightly better view. Moisture and UV rays can still sneak in through the side that’s unpainted or worn down and damage your fence. Rot and rust will spread, even if you can’t see it from your side of the lawn.

A high-quality wrought iron fence should last you a lifetime, but it will require some TLC on your end. Wrought iron fences are incredibly strong and durable, but they can be susceptible to rust and corrosion, so you’ll need to clean and refinish your fence every two to three years. If you notice rust developing, hire a professional fence repair company to clean the rust and reseal the area of fencing to prolong its life span.
