"Stan and two helpers were professional and easy to deal with throughout deck repair and color staining. The final bill was a bit expensive, but well done. I'd hire him again."

"We could not have been happier with the entire process. Prostage was the first to reply to our request for a bid, scheduled the job very quickly and was extremely reasonable in the price. The actual job was even better. They did more than what we asked for including painting the doors and then when we asked to include the master bath ceiling after the job had started there was no charge! Work was excellent, fast and the guys were VERY nice and professional."

"I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the incredible work Juan (JC), and his team did on my kitchen, flooring, family room, sunroom, and laundry room remodel. The results are amazing, and I am absolutely thrilled with the final outcome. The craftsmanship - especially the attention to detail on the cabinetry, tilework, and fireplace was outstanding. You transformed by dated kitchen area into a functional, beautiful space, and I am truly proud of everything that was done. You even came back immediately to handle the touch-ups that were brought to your attention. Thank you again for all your hard work and dedication. I would highly recommend Escobar AZ Painting, LLC to anyone looking for a high-quality craftmanship and contractor they can trust. Gail R."

Customers say: Terrific value

"Overall the home was powerwashed quickly and looks pretty good. I was disappointed that the back gate was left open (we have a docile Golden Retriever who thankfully does not leave the yard), and two of the potted Plumeria plants (on front of deck, not close to home) were knocked over. The area of the back of the house, within the screened porch, was not powerwashed?"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood to help prevent the boards from cracking. However, you must wait for the wood to dry out completely before applying any finish. Freshly treated wood can take weeks or even months to dry; a common recommendation is to wait three to six months. To check if the wood is ready, perform a simple water test: drip some water onto the surface. If the water beads up, the wood is still too wet and needs more time to dry. If the wood absorbs the water, it is dry enough to be painted or stained. You can proceed with building your deck or fence while the wood is still wet, but you will need to wait to apply the paint or stain.

While the answer varies based on weather, 10 a.m. is a good time to start painting. The dew will have dried, meaning there’s no moisture on the house, and the temperature will likely be moderate and the sunlight less direct. Starting mid-morning should also give you enough daylight and pleasant weather to work on the job for several hours.

The best paint for an older deck depends on the material and whether or not your deck already has a coat of paint. Generally, if your deck already has paint on it, you should choose the same type of paint when repainting the deck. For example, if an old deck has oil-based paint on it, stick with oil; if your deck has water-based paint, choose water-based paint.

It’s best to prime composite decking before painting. This promotes better paint adhesion, helps create a smooth finish, and can mean the paint job will last longer. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for application, allow ample primer drying time before painting (typically 24 to 48 hours), and thoroughly clean the deck boards to promote the best adhesion.

Rags used with oil-based stains are highly flammable and can spontaneously combust in the right conditions. To reduce the fire risk, throw them in a metal container after use and add rocks on top to secure them. Add an inch of water and seal the container. Take the rags in the container to a hazardous waste factory as soon as possible.
