"I had tiles that had come loose due to improper installation (by someone else). William remove that tile and hardy board to clean up the bad installation. He put down a new membrane and tile. He even found a new tile that matched the old ones. Great job!"

"We hired Mark to refresh our bathroom. Personally, he was courteous and pleasant. Professionally, his work was of excellent quality, he finished the job in a timely fashion, and his price was very fair. We plan on hiring Mark again in the future and would recommend him to others."

Honesty is one of our to priority to earn and keep our clients trust. We treat every customer with loyalty and respect so that you will never need another contractor/handyman and cut the worry if you are getting what you want and an affordable rate without the extra unnecessary costs that many are charging now days. "Kelvin called right away to see how his company could help me resolve my issue with the garage door. He sent Gilmer out the same day look at the damage done and provide an estimate. Gilmer installed our new garage door the next week. We were completely satisfied with their customer service from beginning to end and the installation."

"Willie and his All Things New team did beautiful work for us on a large remodeling project (kitchen & bath) in 2017, so when we decided to do additional repairs and add a second-floor bathroom to our Fellâ s Point townhouse, he was our first choice. We were not present for most of the work period, and we knew we could trust him entirely â both to carry out the remodel and to supervise other professionals (e.g., a stonemason, electricians and plumbers) to do good work at a fair price, on time. The results exceeded our expectations. Willie brings formidable expertise and management skills to his work. He gave us excellent advice on design, and went far beyond his formal responsibilities (and the original contract) to create a beautiful and functional space at a price we could afford."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Your floors should be completely level for tile, otherwise you risk damaging the tiles in the future. When there are even small gaps or hills in the subfloor beneath the tile, this puts more pressure on the tile when you walk around on the floor. With repeated traffic, the tiles are at risk of cracking, and you’ll have to deal with tile repairs sooner than if the floor was completely level.

You can attach tiles to a wall using thin-set mortar. You’ll also need a notched trowel to create grooves within the adhesive so it flattens completely when pressed in and securely holds the wall tiles. Finally, you’ll need grout to smooth the gaps between the tiles and, ideally, a grout sealer to prevent mold. While it sounds simple enough, proper planning and execution are crucial, so carefully review the steps in this guide or hire a pro tile installer to complete this project.

For glass tile, you want to use unsanded grout. Sanded grout is a stronger and grittier cement grout that is great for installing tiles with wider gaps and into joints. However, it is susceptible to scratching glass tile and is more difficult to use in thinner gaps. Unsanded grout, while more expensive, is easier to fit between thin gaps and is less harsh on delicate materials, like glass tile.

Yes, you can install a backsplash directly onto drywall, provided the wall is properly prepped, clean, and dry. For best results, especially in kitchen areas, your walls should be made of moisture-resistant drywall, often called green board. If your current wall isn't moisture-resistant, it's recommended to replace it before installing the backsplash. For even greater protection against water damage, you can remove the existing drywall and install a tile backer board or cement board instead. While properly installed standard drywall is typically strong enough to support a backsplash, some local building codes may require water-resistant materials in kitchen areas, so it's a good idea to check.

Porcelain tiles can last 60 years or longer. With high-quality tiles and proper installation, your porcelain tiles may even outlive you, making them well worth the initial investment.

To help your porcelain tiles last longer, you should clean and maintain them regularly. You don’t need any harsh chemicals to get the job done. Rather, use a cloth, hot water, and mild detergent. And don’t forget to learn how to clean floor tile grout, as that’s just as important as tile maintenance.
