"Goode design did an excellent job on our home. The crew left the work areas clean and kept all of their equipment together at the end of the day every day. Would definitely recommend to others in the future and wouldn't hesitate to hire again should the need arise."

"I hired this company based on reviews from Angie's list.  My experience was a bit different than the A + rating they had.  The answered my call for a quote and arrived on time.  The communicated in Spanish about everything.  We all walked the house together and I pointed out everything that needed painting.  We had a discussion about the master bath, the last words I heard George senior tell me was "we can fix this".  They quoted me a price of $3400.00 and said if I got everything done at once, he would take $200.00 off.  I didn't get other quotes because I just moved in and time was a factor, so I can't really comment on price.  During the week, they dropped of a large paint sample thing to make may choices from.  They arrived early to start the two-day job, a Friday and a Saturday.  They finished the job on Saturday, as promised.  My master bath was not painted, the wood on the steps was not painted, they removed all the drapery hardware and it was tossed out apparently, they took a blind down in the master bedroom and I had to remind many times for them to fix it, they did with crazy glue.  The walls and ceiling are beautiful but the trim is horrible.  I am still painting over spots that were missed or the paint was wiped off when they cleaned the floors.  There was a quarter sized drop of paint on my maple dining room table.  There was a large spot of white trim paint on the colored wall in the hall, but worst of all I continue to clean small spots and areas where there is white paint on the oak floors. They did do me one favor and lift a TV back up above the fireplace that had been taken down for painting. They did leave all the extra paint in the basement, one bucket not closed and has a paint roller floating in it.  The worst thing was them teasing my dogs and getting them agitated and pushing each other towards them and laughing.  Overall, I don't think I had an "A" experience.  Unfortunately I would not recommend them or use them again.

"The work was performed over 2 days and on the weekend in which the owner/Project Manager really worked with my schedule.  The painters/installers did a magnificent job and were very kind, professional, knowledgable and clean.  The owner/PM also followed up to see if I was please with the job which I appreciated.  The pricing was very, very reasonable as compared to other companies that  provided me quotes. I would definitely recommend them to any neighbor, friend and unknown person in the DC area.

"Met with Mike, the owner, on 10/12/2013 to provide an estimate.  He said he could complete the project in 5 days using 4 people.  We agreed he would start on Monday, 11/4/2013, and be completed on Friday, 11/8/2013.  Completing on 11/8/2013 was important because I was scheduling the carpet cleaner to come in right behind him.  My goal was to list the property on 11/9 or 11/10.  I provided Mike a key to house so he'd have access as needed to complete the work as the house was vacant.
Mike began working on 11/4/2013.  On 11/6/2013 he called and informed me that he would try to be completed on Friday, but thought that was highly unlikely.  He apologized and explained he had a bad knee and an issue with the master bath ceiling that was slowing the work down.  I expressed the importance of him completing the work on Friday due to the scheduling of the carpet cleaner.   He said he'd try.  I asked for a new completion date; he indicated he would be completed no later than Tuesday, 11/12.  I said this was unacceptable and asked if he could work over the weekend.  He agreed to work the weekend and be completed by Sunday.
I contacted Mike on Friday, 11/8/13 (the original completion date) to get an update on his progress.  He told he needed until Monday, 11/11/13 to finish.  I expressed my displeasure, but what could I do?  I could not move forward until the painting was complete.  On Monday, I met Mike at the property.  Overall, he and his wife did a good job painting.  He expressed that some of wallpaper removal took longer because of two layers of wallpaper in some cases.  He also forgot to paint a decorative feature above the ceiling fan; he asked if I wanted it painted and I said yes.
I was not at the house every day.  My gut says that two maybe three people worked on this project, which is why it was not completed timely.  Mike writes he's been in this business for 30 years.  As a painting professional, he should be able to accurately estimate the time it takes to finish a project especially after taking the time to go through each room (and given his ongoing knee issue).  I chose Mike's company because of the positive reviews on Angie's List so his inability to keep within the time frame was very disappointing.  I liked the work his company did, but would most likely not use again given this experience.

"I picked Delgavio from Angie' List because of their excellent recommendations. Kimberly helped us pick the colors. She and crew members began the job and worked very hard until the job was completed to perfection. She put a new weather sealer around the front door. Their work is of the highest quality. We would highly recommend Kimberly to anyone needing exterior and interior painting. We will definitely hire her to do the interior of our house and help with decorating and design."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

Many types of wallpaper exist, from removable peel-and-stick options to more permanent options that involve pasting. You can also find wallpaper that you can paint over, wallpaper with a texture, and wallpaper made from various materials, such as vinyl. Some types of wallpaper are washable, which can be a great option for kitchens or if your household has small children.

Yes, many types of peel-and-stick wallpaper can be used in bathrooms, especially those made of vinyl or polyester. However, its success depends heavily on the level of moisture and ventilation. In bathrooms with good ventilation, such as those with fans, it can be a durable option. Peel-and-stick wallpaper may not adhere as well as traditional wallpaper in very humid conditions. For bathrooms that see a lot of moisture, like a kids' bathroom or a full bath with a steamy shower and poor ventilation, even high-quality peel-and-stick wallpaper is likely to peel over time.

No, you don’t always have to remove old wallpaper before applying a new layer. However, you should pull off the existing wallpaper if it’s cracked, peeling, or in poor condition. We’d also recommend against putting wallpaper over textured or dark-colored wallpaper because the old layer may be visible through the new one. In addition, if you try to hang new wallpaper over vinyl-coated wallpaper, the adhesive might not stick properly.

If you prefer peel-and-stick to traditional wallpaper, you can skip the priming process. Many manufacturers don't require an additional primer if you’re installing peel-and-stick wallpaper to painted walls. However, if you’re applying peel-and-stick wallpaper to unfinished drywall, you’ll need to apply a primer first.

The pros of wallpaper include its durability and longer lifespan than paint, as well as its versatility. The durability can translate to lower long-term costs for upkeep and replacement, and the versatility means you have more options for customizing rooms in your home. Some downsides include that it’s difficult to remove, it’s not ideal for rooms or areas exposed to high moisture content or sun exposure, and it’s tricky to install. A professional wallpaper hanger can help mitigate these issues, though, by installing it properly and in areas suitable for wallpaper.
