"needed help with network security cameras in my home.  Mr. Jim did not have experience with them but he was more than willing to try.  He was very responsive and determined to fix the problem.  He was not going to charge me if he couldn't help me.  He did exactly what he promised and completed this project with a great attitude!  I highly recommend him and will definitely utilize his help in the future."

"It went great! I called and they were out the very next day measuring and installing new screens in my home. The customer service was outstanding and the installers were very friendly and polite. The prices were much lower than all of the other window companies in the area. I will definitely be using them again."

"We are extremely pleased with our experience with Wheaton Door & Window (WDW). We had interviewed a few door & window companies to replace our 1977-vintage windows and doors in a 2 level condo. While everyone could replace the windows, it proved difficult to find a provider for the French doors, which were of a size that nobody carries anymore. This regrettably put us in expensive custom-made land.  Peter (the salesman) gave a great in-home demonstration of replacement windows and after a couple hours was able to find an option for the French doors and the screen doors (which surprisingly were even more difficult to find than the glass-paned doors!) This was in stark comparison to another contractor who had no solution for the French doors, and the price was substantially less than what a nationally-known window company quoted me for its windows and custom French doors. Peter was also cognizant of the condo community's architectural requirements and made sure the doors and windows would comply. After placing the order and putting 1/3 down, Joe came and measured. Before WDW placed the order with the custom supplier, Joe came back and measured a second time, which gave us great comfort that things would be done right the first time. After placing the order, our condo suffered a casualty that took several weeks to repair. When WDW received the doors and windows, they patiently held them until the restoration work was completed. Amber and Bobbie from the installation department checked in periodically while the work was being done to keep tabs on when the installation could begin. Once I gave the word, Chris and his crew installed the windows and the very tedious doors over a 1 and a half day period. They had great attention to detail, going so far as to repaint some nicked areas around the doors. The installation and the product are both proving to be outstanding. The condo now retains heat so well that the heat pump rarely kicks on (even when the outside temperature fell through the 30s last night), and sounds from outside are nearly imperceptible. On top of all of the outstanding work, they let us pay with a credit card for no extra charge, giving us bonus frequent flier miles. So from sales pitch to installation to the ease of payment, WDW was great to work with. We are now big fans and highly recommend them for door and window replacement.

"After moving into a new condo, I had a variety of jobs to be
tackled from mounting a large heavy mirror to a wall to small fix-ups like
installing a new showerhead. A colleague recommended Matt Cholko and Total Home
Services. She had used Matt’s services when he was just starting out, and he
had made such an impression on her she kept his business card. I called Matt
and left a message with his answering service. He called back that same day,
and we discussed what I needed done. Right then and there, he gave me an
estimate as to how many hours the work would take, and explained the fees,
which I thought very reasonable.

On the day of the appointment, Matt and his colleague, Luke, arrived as
promised, carrying tools and equipment to my 8th floor apartment.
They were prepared with everything they needed right down to the mounting
hardware, and set to work right away. For positioning the mirrors and wall
sculptures, they asked for my input, but were also very helpful with
suggestions. When it came time to position the large mirror, it was discovered
that it couldn’t be placed exactly as planned because of the electrical wiring
in the wall behind that area. They recalculated and hung the mirror without any
damage to the wiring or wall, and moved the dresser so that mirror and dresser
were aligned and centered. Not only did Matt and Luke do all the jobs I
requested but they also noticed other little things that could be handled in
the allotted time.

Matt and Luke were polite, professional, friendly, and very efficient.
It took only a few minutes to see that they really know what they’re doing. I
had the greatest of confidence that the work was being handled correctly. And
they also managed the cleanup, carting away the mirror wrappings and vacuuming
the sawdust from cutting down the doors. Matt was right on target with his
estimated time, and the cost was as expected. I can recommend Matt and Total
Home Services without reservation. As my decorating and improvement projects
continue, I plan on calling Total Home Services for the help I’ll need.

Window Screen Repair questions, answered by experts

If you’re not keen on using a traditional doggie door, there are some alternatives. One popular option is a solid, insulated door that you can lock when you’re out of the home for added security. You can also opt for a doggie screen, which you can lift and lower to allow your pooch access to the outdoors. These are a bit more convenient to use than a regular exterior door, although security could be an issue. You can also install a screen door with a small opening for your pup to prevent bugs from coming inside as your dog exits.

Garage door screens can expand your living space, turning a garage into a home office, gym, or entertainment space. They provide comfortable ventilation, insect control, and privacy, allowing you to enjoy your space all year round. Consult a local garage door screen installer to add this feature to your space.

Most windows last for 15 to 30 years, depending on the frame material and the glass quality, but most will require repairs during that time. Windows gradually lose efficiency, so it’s usually best to have a window repair technician inspect and service your windows every five to 10 years. You should also repair your windows if you experience the following:

  • Leaks

  • Drafts

  • Difficulty opening or closing

  • Sudden increases in heating and cooling bills

  • Outdoor noise becomes more audible

  • Signs of physical damage

While sometimes used interchangeably, screen doors and storm doors have key differences. Screen doors are simple structures, typically composed of just a frame and a screen, designed to keep out bugs while allowing air circulation. In contrast, storm doors are heavier and more complex, built to protect your home's main entry door from weather and intruders. They usually feature an aluminum frame with interchangeable tempered glass and screen panels, allowing you to switch between ventilation and insulation. A storm door offers more protection and versatility but generally costs more than a basic screen door.

Yes, you can absolutely put a screen on a casement window, and most casement windows come with screens. Unlike with a double-hung, single-hung, or sliding window, the screen in a casement window sits on the inside of the window so that the sash can freely open outward. Screens are especially important for casement windows because the large window opening the window provides leaves your home more open to bugs and outside debris than most other types of operable windows.
