"Sliding door unable to move for years. Dexter was the only technician that came and was able to repair. He fixed some damaged wood. Change rollers and made a few adjustments. The door felt like new. Very professional, communicated thoroughly and got the job done. We have some window work to do and we will be having him back to do the work. I can’t forgot to mention his prices are better than every company I’ve ever had out to my home"

"I thought Presidential did a good job replacing my roof. I thought the pricing was fair and the job was done from first contact with the company to finish in ~1 month. I would use them for home repair services again."

Door Repair questions, answered by experts

Doors get more sticky in the summer. Contrary to popular belief, doors can also stick in the winter since humidity causes doors to stick during both seasons. However, thermal expansion and humidity in the summer mean that the thermal heat and moisture in the air both play a role in causing a door to stick.

If your cabinet door is hitting your new appliance because it’s opening wider than 90 degrees, the above steps may be able to fix this problem. But sometimes the problem happens because the new appliance is a bit larger than the previous model. Check that the new appliance is set as far back as possible to prevent run-ins with cabinet doors, and check out our guide on hiding kitchen appliances.

Basic repairs like tightening hinges or replacing handles are DIY-friendly, but professionals should handle structural or security-related issues.

On average, you should change your hinges every 10 to 15 years. You can extend your door’s life span by lubricating it, limiting the weight you place on it, and evenly distributing the door’s weight across all hinges. If you prefer to wait until you have to change your hinges, at the very least, be on the lookout for noticeable signs of wear and tear.

Yes, it is essential that you perform bi-annual maintenance on your bifold doors. This means checking the hardware, cleaning the door and the tracks, and lubricating the locks. Most of this work can be done on your own, but if you wish for a more thorough inspection, you should call in a professional door repair company.
