"We purchased a big deal from Angie's List - $99 for $200 of electrical work. After submitting three possible days and times I received an email back saying to call and set up an appointment. Not exactly an efficient use of my time. When I called the person on the other end of the line was curt and explained what the $99 would cover - basically their service fee to get there and about 15 minutes worth of actual electrical work. After that it would be, I believe she said $36 every half-hour. I was a bit dismayed that this really wasn't much of a deal.
The electrician was prompt and professional. He diagnosed the problem with the bathroom light fixture quickly and was able to resolve the problem within the time constraints of the deal so we owed nothing more. We will need to replace the fixture as it was a poor quality fixture installed by the builders, but it currently works.
While I thought I would hire them back for the actual replacement, it will depend on the customer service when trying to schedule and get a cost estimate. Although it would be simple enough to do myself, I do not mess with electric as a rule.
