"The professional cleaning service was top notch. Mike arrived on time and cleaned 7 areas of carpet in an amazing way. He always does such a great job that we have call about twice a year to have the carpet cleaned. I would recommend OMA Professional Cleaning Services to others."

"within minutes, I received a call from the very friendly and professional Michelle. Calling me all the way from California! Michelle explained the services she could and could not offer in terms of my needed furniture repair. And while she cannot help me specifically with my furniture issue, she offered a very generous solution: she is going to send me leather dye for the scratched ottoman and talk me through the repair, should I need help! Michelle also explained that she deals with customers all over the country, in need of leather and purse and clothing repair, cleaning, and restoration. Based on my extremely positive experience with Michelle, I will be sure to call her in the future when I need help with fur, leather or suede goods!!!"

"It was done very well. I have HEW steam clean my carpets every year before Thanksgiving. I know they are sanitized and all the coffee and wine spots are gone. They look so much better, and he gives us plastic booties to wear if we need to walk on them the first several hours."

"On Twiga's page on Angie's list, there is a special rate of $49 for cleaning sofas. I called and was promised the $49 rate for both the sofa and the love seat. This seemed to be an incredible deal, and I thought it might be too good to be true. But my sofas were not in bad shape, just needed to be freshened up and some small stains here and there removed, so I figured I might as well go for it. Mel arrived and saw my sofa and said it had too many cushions and so he couldn't do it for $49, but said it would cost me $80. I didn't bother negotiating (which I think surprised him) because this is still a good deal, but asked that he do a good job. It went ok. The sofas look good overall and smell fresh. I noted though that once Mel was done, he just turned off the machine and started packing up the equipment. Didn't really bother asking what I thought of the work and if I was satisfied. I noted a stain on the top side that hadn't been removed and asked him about it and he said he'd tried to remove it, but it wasn't going away. Afterward, I noticed some stains in the cushions on the sides, but these weren't visible so not a huge deal. I ended up removing them with some laundry detergent. I also noticed that the back of the sofa wasn't done at all, and there were some stains/marks toward the lower end, but nothing major. Overall, I think it went ok because of the price. If I had paid a lot more (which it seems many of the Angie's List providers charge), I likely would have been a bit unhappy."

Couch Cleaning Services questions, answered by experts

Sometimes, you can clean an HVAC filter rather than replace it. If you have a washable filter, also known as a permanent or semi-permanent HVAC filter, wash the filter once per month. However, if you have filters that are not labeled as washable, do not attempt to clean them and reuse them. Many HVAC filters are disposable, and you’ll need to buy a whole new filter to replace dirty disposable filters.

Keeping your air filter clean is crucial for your heat pump's efficiency. As a general rule, you should check your air filter every 1 to 3 months. However, the actual frequency might vary depending on factors like the type of filter, indoor air quality, and the amount of dust and debris in your area. If you notice the filter is visibly dirty or clogged, it's a clear sign it needs attention sooner. Regular filter maintenance ensures proper airflow and helps your heat pump perform optimally, keeping your indoor air fresh and comfortable.

In-home air purifiers really do work. However, their value depends on what you're trying to achieve. Mechanical air filters other than those with true HEPA filtration aren't capable of removing bacteria and viruses from the air. However, many of them can reduce very fine particles, including pollen, a known allergen. On the other hand, UV light filters can remove harmful pathogens but can't remove particles.

As a general rule, HVAC air filters should be replaced every one to three months (or every 90 days). However, the ideal frequency depends on several factors, including the filter type and your home's environment. For instance, if you use thinner filters (1-2 inches deep), have pets, have household members with allergies, smoke indoors, or frequently keep windows open, you may need to change the filter as often as once a month. It's best to follow the manufacturer's recommendation as a guideline and visually inspect the filter monthly to see if it's dirty. Regular filter changes are crucial for maintaining proper airflow, good indoor air quality, and efficient HVAC system operation.

Yes, a dirty air filter can cause a higher electric bill. That’s because clogged filters make it harder for air to flow through your HVAC system, which forces it to work harder and use more energy. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, replacing dirty filters can save you between 5% and 15% in utility costs.
