There install was absolutely fabulous. My wife and I were amazed at there professionalism and the way they kept the work area clean. When they were finished they made sure my wife and I were comfortable with the operation of the controls before they left. Clean up of the work area was spotless. Jeff Miller was our salesman. "It all started out well after purchase of the initial Angie's list deal.  We promptly agreed on a date and a gentlemen came to measure and start the paperwork. Install date was set for 11/5/15. On 11/4, I was called about setting an install date.  My response was I already had one for the next day. Long story short, the company did not bother to tell me they had cancelled my appointment, they just acted like I never had one.  It was as though one side of the business did not know what the other side was doing. Since I made arrangements to be home on the 5th, I was not happy.  We finally settled on the 12th and the installation went smoothly enough.  However after completion, I noticed the installers had broken a piece of moulding in front of the patio door.  I know they realized they cracked it because they used clear caulk as a fix. I called the company and they said they would replace.  As of 11/30, the moulding still has not been replaced even though I was told the installer was picking up molding on 11/17.
I will say the person who came to measure and the lady who did the follow-up calling were professional. However, I can't say the same for the install side. The contact person was nice enough but he did not contact me to say the install was cancelled and to me it's taking way too long to replace the molding the installers broke.  I view it as a lack of integrity to cover up breaking the piece and not bothering to say anything to me.  The patio door is beautiful and I had planned to purchase a front door from them but have changed my mind.

"I live in a 100-year old brick row house on Capitol Hill. The exterior doors and windows in the back of the house were in really bad shape (leaking air and water and not very secure.) I had Hammer and Nail replace 2 exterior doors and an exterior window (basement door, basement window, and kitchen door). All 3 were custom built to match the existing openings and the style of the house (which is inside the historic district). Installation was tricky because (of course) house is not level and there was lead paint, brick, rotted wood etc.
They did a fabulous job and I am very happy with the work. Larry was my estimater/rep. He was great about recommending feasible solutions and alternatives and was honest about where costs would go up. The doors and windows I got were of high quality in both appearance and functionality. Danny did the installation and was very professional, prompt, neat and courteous. He also took pride in his work and was not daunted by the difficult job, which he did outside in *10 degree weather.* The installation only took 2 days but was interrupted by a snowstorm. The office did a great job of keeping me informed of the changing time frame and working around my work schedule to get the job done promptly.
I am so pleased with the outcome of this job; it has made a huge difference in the appearance, security and comfort of my home. It was not cheap, and I might have been able to get a better price elsewhere if I had gotten some more bids. But the quality of the work and the experience of working with this company was worth it. I would highly recommend Hammer and Nail."

"It took much longer than expected, part of this was due to inclement weather & 2 ft of snow. When installer came he noted that porch was not secure enough to place sunroom on.  Owner of company came out to inspect while shoring up was being done.TRS shored up porch. Installer knowledgable and helpful. During demoing & building of stairs, they tripped power to house 3 times, finally they took out old outlet from old porch and used other outside outlet.
Projected time to start was 11/14/15 & finish 12/14/15, was not started until mid Dec., and finished 2/25/16.  County did not issue permit until Dec. TRS might be a little more realistic about construction times. Built sturdy steps & landing and put in all new electric to sunroom. A few knobs for windows missing which they had to reorder and one screen not set in properly and bugs got in, and cover plate to electric box with wiring to porch was not put on. They did fix after a few calls. 
When dumpster removed from driveway, it knocked my A/C unit off its base, unit needs to be repositioned we are waiting to see what that will cost. 
TRS did send out a quality review staffer to go over the whole project when finished, which is rare, so it appears that they really want client feedback.

"The windows were cheaper. I probably would have gone with the higher end windows and I probably would have gone with a contractor that is local. I wouldn't use Medallion. They were okay. They had to reinstall a few windows as they were installed incorrectly. They also had to replace a few windows as the glaze peeled out. I think I'd go for an Andersen or Pella window and hire an independent contractor to come in and install them. They are almost the same as any other finer window cheap replacement company. The price and responsiveness was good. I'd rather go in for a higher end product. If you're looking for cheap window replacement, they are as good as any other window companies."
