Furniture Medic by Karen is different than most other furniture repair and restoration companies. A cloudy film on top of a wooden surface usually means either the incorrect cleaner was used or there is polish buildup. You’ll need to start over again and remove the surface cleaner with a damp rag and some water and dish soap. Be careful not to leave the wood surface wet as this could cause water damage.

If the scratch is large enough that it compromises the integrity of the wood, a wood filler probably won’t be enough to fix the problem. In that case, you might need to sand and refinish the entire floor or replace a board. If you do use a filler, use one that’s appropriate for the scratch. Water-based wood fillers work for small gaps or gouges, while epoxy has added strength to fill larger scratches and gaps.

A good way to determine that a table is not worth refinishing is if it's painted. Often they are painted to cover up flaws with the wood you won't be able to fix. You want a good, solid wood table that just needs a facelift rather than a rickety wood table with a lot of problems.

You can certainly seal butcher block countertops, but not permanently. Due to the nature of the materials, it will require resurfacing down the line. This is true no matter what you use to seal the countertop, including polyurethane and mineral oil. Polyurethane will last until the countertop is damaged in some way, and mineral oil should be reapplied every two to three months. To maximize the longevity of the polyurethane sealer, apply two coats.

Yes. A good mixture to condition your leather is made from one tablespoon of natural baby soap, a splash of vinegar, and 2 cups of warm water. Mix these ingredients in a bowl and use a microfiber cloth to rub it into the leather in small circles. 

You can apply the same technique with a mixture of one part vinegar and two parts linseed oil. Once you’ve applied this to leather with a cloth, let it sit for 10 minutes before buffing with a small cloth.
