"We hired Kitchen Savers to help remodel our kitchen. After a few delays due to COVID-19, work got under way June 1st. Hasan the installer was awesome. He spent 5 days in a row with us doing demolition, resurfacing the cabinets, installing the new oven/microwave, crown molding, etc. Kitchen Savers was very professional and nicely orchestrated their subcontractors (Rock Tops for the countertops, electrician for the under cabinet lighting, plumber to install the sink and garbage disposal, etc.). We are very pleased with the workmanship and the final outcome. Even when we had an issue with one of the cabinet doors a few weeks later, Kitchen Savers sent out a workman to rehang the door with a double hinge and solved the issue free of charge. The only negative comment is that while Kitchen Savers works with subcontractors for certain things (i.e. countertops, etc.), that is where things end. So you have new cabinets and new countertops, but no backsplash. That's kind of crazy. If you want a backsplash or wall tile between the countertops and cabinets, you are on your own to fine another contractor. Likewise for flooring. This caused some issues as our floor contractor wanted to demo the floor before the cabinet work was done and we had to do a bit of juggling. It would have been nice to have one main contractor who organized and scheduled all the subs."

"TR Granite & Stone Studio was amazing. From initial contact through installation took about a day and a half. We replaced the bamboo tops on our kitchen island and kitchen table with quartz and and they are beautiful. TR Granite operates as a well oiled machine with all staff from owner to measurement to installers knowledgeable, easy to work with and efficient. As well, they had the best price for this project. We couldn’t be more pleased the outcome."

"Scheduling appointment, measurements, and coming to terms handled easily and directly. Took them longer to get parts than they initially expected. At installation, they determined the sill of my shower should be repaired/refurbished prior to installing doors (they could not make that assessment until the old doors were removed. They did not insist, but recommended strongly repairing a few cracked tiles -- this was professional advise from the installer, which I took. We rescheduled the installation for the next week, I accomplished the repair myself over the weekend). The actual install found the shower walls were approx. 3/8" out of plumb -- but the installation went well. A slight miscommunication about final payment (I expected a final invoice, but did not receive one) was corrected with a simple phone call."

"I like Hydro Clean.  They have cleaned my carpets several times and they do a good job and their employees are helpful and professional.  So I didn't hesitate when I saw a Big Deal for their company for bathroom grout cleaning.  It included up to 300 sq feet for $199.  The grout in all 3 of my bathrooms was in need of some brightening so I bought the deal.  When I called up to make my appointment I realized that even though the total footage of all 3 of my bathrooms didn't come close to their limit for the deal that they would not do all 3 bathroom floors because it was only for 2 rooms.  Partly my mistake but as a customer of many years I'd hoped they would be a little more willing to work with me; I didn't even have 200 square feet of work and my tub tile had been replaced recently so the floor grout was all the work I had. That turned out to be very unfortunate because I probably would have been better off without the deal just paying for both rooms.  What made it even worse was that nothing looked different when all was said and done except that the grout around some of the edges was lightened up. The rest was still as dark as ever.  They came and tried again with the same results. What puzzled me was how the edges could have cleaned up so well but nothing else.
I'll continue to use Hydro Clean for carpet cleaning but not for grout cleaning.

"The sales was great. The price was good and reasonable. Cindy was very helpful and tried to keep the price low as possible (still not cheap). The installers were the different story. They pressured me that they are fine, fine and fine. Maybe the measure man (he was a very nice guy was at the fault, did not walk me thru with the entertainment center. The length was little too long. He did walk me thru in the kitchen counters. He should have take me to the entertainment center to make sure I am satisfied the measurements. The installers went ahead to install the final backsplash on the end. It was really an inch shorter. It didn't look good. The measure was off. Why did they go ahead to put it on at the first place before check with us? I had to watch over them most of th time. The result we were happy how the kitchen and entertainment center came out beautifully."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can tile over existing tiles in a bathroom, but it is not always recommended. For this method to be successful, the original tile surface must be clean, flat, and free of damage such as cracks, unevenness, mold, or mildew. While tiling over existing tiles can save time and money, there are potential drawbacks. The new adhesive may not bond properly, and the process adds extra weight to the wall or floor. Additionally, the increased height of the surface could interfere with door clearances. For the best and most durable results, removing the old tiles before installing new ones is generally the better option.

It’s possible to walk on a clay tile roof, but you run the risk of breaking or cracking the tiles if you’re not careful, so it’s best not to walk on it if you can avoid it. If you or a contractor needs roof access, be sure to distribute your weight evenly and step on the portions of tile that are also supported underneath, which depends on your tile design. Walking on any roofing material is inherently dangerous, so wear rubber-soled shoes and use safety equipment if you need to access your roof.

When choosing tiles for a shower floor, avoid highly porous tile materials, like those with a water absorption rating over 7%. Don’t use non-vitreous tiles, or tiles fired at low temperatures, because they will absorb more water. If you use a highly porous tile in the shower, the tiles can wear down faster, meaning they’ll need to be replaced much sooner.

Yes, even if you’re being careful, removing tile can damage your drywall to some degree. However, you can minimize the damage done to it by eliminating a majority of the grout and taking your time prying each tile off. Also, it's worth noting that you might have more drywall damages to deal with if your tile is set into the mortar.

Add a T-shaped spacer to each corner of a tile when placing it. You’ll want to nudge the tiles closer together so the spacers are touching each corner. When you’re done installing your tile, you can remove each spacer, wash them, and use them for your next project.
