"Fixing horrible construction work on a 5yrs old bd from ''develoer' AX Builders. Tye fronf panel were built without sealant around windows and without screws. The warping panels caused water intrusion into the house when it rains. Gomez Construction crew were knowledgeable, accountable, accommodating to work with during the week long project."

"Contractor did excellent work. Asked before any needed change was done. Over the several days it took to complete re-decking the surface and replacing the stairs , when finished for the day he removed all of the debris from each day so none was accumulated in the yard."

"United Cabinet Store created beautiful custom pieces for my kitchen. I decided to remodel my kitchen and replace the old cabinets. They were no good. I had a specific idea in mind for my new cabinets and United Cabinet Store created exactly what I wanted. When it came time to install them, their team was quick, efficient, and friendly. They were done in no time, allowing me to move on to the next step in my renovation. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs professional cabinet service."

"A&N have been wonderful! They did a great job on the bathroom remodel I needed done on a typical cramped 1950s style bathroom to make room for my mother with her walker. They were able to create so much more space and put in a beautiful walk in shower that works perfectly!"

"The Owner of the company was also the sales person, allowing him to relate to the customer directly (We liked this). He was on the job while it was being done and did a walk through at the end (yes I was on the roof), he shows pride in the crews work and quality. The crew was professional and respectful, worked hard and finished the job in one day - Good Job Guys. The job site was cleaned up when finished and looks great."

"Renovations can be grueling however DSA made the process seamless. They assisted with storing household items in order to complete the renovations in a timely manner. Under their recommendation it helped with living through the renovation and also made post renovation cleanup a breeze. We moved our furniture back into a brand new home. DSA are my go-to remodelers!!!"

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Lifting a house and adding a basement is one way to add usable square footage. Lifting or jacking a house is a complex process, and it can be expensive, not to mention that you won’t be able to live in your house while it’s lifted, due to safety concerns. Lifting a house should only be done by experienced professionals.

Joists and beams are both part of the flooring system above your basement, with the beams spanning the length of your home and getting support from vertical posts underneath, and joists usually spanning half the width of your home with no support posts underneath. The floor joists provide even support to the subflooring and flooring above, and they distribute that load to the beams. The beams then distribute that load down through the support posts to the foundation.

It is generally more affordable to finish a basement than an attic, though it ultimately depends on how you plan to use the space. The average cost to finish a basement ranges from $7 to $23 per square foot, while attic renovation costs $30 to $60 per square foot. However, a simple attic conversion to a storage space will cost significantly less.

You technically can paint wires in a basement ceiling, but there are several important safety and code considerations. It's safe to paint non-metallic sheathed cable as long as the labeling remains visible. You can also paint low-voltage wires and conduit and junction boxes to help them blend into your basement.

However, you should not paint damaged or deteriorated wiring is a fire hazard because it poses a fire hazard. The same goes for painting over high-heat wires that connect to heat-generating appliances or systems. Be sure to avoid painting multiple coats onto any wires, as that traps heat and poses fire risks.

Yes, you can add a bathroom to an unfinished basement, but you’ll want to take proper precautions if doing so. As with any bathroom addition, you’ll need to make sure that it’s approved by local building authorities first. With unfinished basements, you especially need to keep an eye on proper ventilation practices.
