"Our mini-split A/C wasn't cooling after we stopped using it to heat the house. We were in the middle of a local heat wave, but Joshua was able to come the day after we sent in our request for service. He was very professional and explained all of the options for getting things cooling again. After checking out the unit, he added several pounds of refrigerant which fixed the problem. His rates were very reasonable (even during the heat wave) so we'll use his company in the future and highly recommend him to anyone needing similar service."

"Back Archive Move Delete Spam review Yahoo / Inbox C Putnam To: Tanya Sun, Mar 13 at 9:46 AM I contacted Joe after moving into a 30 year old condo. He provided me with a very detailed estimate and explained exactly what would be involved in the duct cleaning process. On the day of service, Anthony arrived. He was very thoughtful about changing his shoes when coming from the outside into my home. He explained everything he would be doing and how long it would take. He showed pictures of what the ducts looked like before and after they were cleaned. It was a great experience and I highly recommend them."

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

To keep your air conditioner in good working condition, you should have it serviced by a professional at least once per year, ideally in the spring before the cooling season begins. If your AC unit is 10 years or older, consider servicing it twice a year (once in the spring and once in the fall) to catch potential problems early and help it reach its full lifespan. During a service visit, a technician will inspect, clean, and replace parts as needed. Regular maintenance helps avoid costly repairs. As a DIY task, you can also clean the evaporator coils annually.

Yes, you can potentially save $60 to $200 by handling your own air conditioner capacitor installation. However, capacitor replacement comes with the risk of electric shock. Only attempt this if you have the knowledge and protective gear to carry it out safely. Otherwise, we recommend hiring an HVAC pro with the experience to properly diagnose the issue and avoid damaging other parts of your AC unit.

Unfortunately, a freon leak will persist even when your AC unit is off. The freon in the AC unit is under pressure no matter the status of the system, so it will continue to drip through the leak even when you shut off the entire unit. It will continue to leak freon until it’s completely empty.

The $5,000 rule for HVAC systems helps homeowners decide whether to repair or replace an AC or furnace. Take the quote for the HVAC repair cost and multiply that by the age of the HVAC system. If the total is higher than $5,000, it’s more cost-effective to replace the system. If the total is lower than $5,000, consider repairing the system.

There are a few ways to reduce your electricity bills if you use window AC units to keep cool. Set the unit temperature at least 1 degree higher than it is currently to reduce costs. Keep the unit clean for it to run efficiently. You may want to hire a window AC specialist near you to inspect the unit once a year and keep it in tip-top shape.
