Cape Cod Electrical is your hometown company! Nick knows how to solve all your electrical issues. He does it all, from generators, to remodels. Call him today, and sleep easier knowing, you have hired the best! State licensed Electrician and Generac Factory trained technician.

"They did the job, but when I scheduled the appointment--they came out to the house and charged $89 to take a look at the work that needed to be done. They then had to come back two weeks later to wall mount the TV above our mantle. They charged $578.20 to mount the TV, which seems to be an extremely excessive high price, especially considering that there was already a wire behind the TV that they were able to connect to. I was not told when I made the appointment to do the work that they would charge us to take a look at the job. And the $578.20 charged for the half hour job is exorbitant. And we had provided the TV mount!!! Consumer beware---We came across this bill currently while doing our taxes and wanted to let others know to find a different electrician."

Lighting questions, answered by experts

The majority of potential burglars are amateurs looking to make a quick buck after breaking and entering. By installing motion-sensor lights, alarm systems, and security cameras, throughout the home, there’s a good chance you will deter crime on your property.

Yes, the outdoors is one of the areas where GFCI is always required. The receptacles used outdoors must have a ground-fault circuit interrupter, or GFCI, for safety reasons. Not only does GFCI make it safer for operation even in wet locations, including bathrooms, outdoors, basements, and other areas, but also they’ll automatically trip if there’s an imbalance in the circuit, keeping you safe from electrocution and decreasing the risk of an electrical fire.

The requirements for outdoor lighting will vary depending on the type of light, where it’s located on the exterior of your home, and your local electrical code. Lights that come into contact with water (i.e. pool lights) will need to be on a GFCI, for instance. That being said, it’s safest to have any outdoor light on GFCI because of the risk of moisture. A pro can give you more specific information for your unique circumstances.

Replacing a pool light costs about $625 per light. If you only need to replace the light bulb, plan on paying about $20 to $100 per light. The largest cost factors include the type of pool light, the number of pool lights needed, and the labor costs in your location. But additional cost factors include work required on existing wiring, other repairs, and the continual maintenance needed to keep your pool light in good working condition after installation.

Testing tools, such as Christmas light testers, non-contact proximity electrical testers, and multimeters, all simplify the process of testing Christmas lights. However, without one or more of those tools, testing Christmas lights the old-fashioned way only works sometimes. Without testing tools, the simplest testing method is visual inspection, which may or may not yield positive results.
