I went on Angies list looking for long distance movers. I spoke to someone from Angie's List who was VERY helpful.
Purchased a plan that would be $1500. I then spoke to Erica from the company and gave her a itemized list of what would be moved. I then spoke to her closer to our move as we needed to add a washer and dryer. She told me no problem and that the movers would do an itemized list when they got there.
My husband took many items and we also had two car loads of stuff. I instructed their foreman that certain boxes and bags (groceries) would be taken by me. They proceeded to take the items and box some of them up anyway. They did NOT use the mattress covers I purchased. I spoke to the foreman about it and he basically said "Whatever" . I had to clean up after the laborers. They threw all used tape rolls, plastic , and food rubbish on the floors. They did NOT pick up after themselves and didn't have a lot of care for my home. They used excessive amounts of tape to tape blankets. I informed Erica about it and she blew me off also. I feel like they only cared about making more money and OVERCHARGING!. We did have additional items to add to the move, but what they charged was ridiculous! They also did NOT have an accurate list They did not have either TV on the list and many other items on the list that was initially given, thus they used THAT excuse to OVERCHARGE us.
They then insisted on receiving $600 cash at the time of delivery for "expenses" which did not go to the workers. Then want you to tip them also. Some of the workers were very nice though and I feel for them to be working for this company.
NEVER USE THEM!

I was an existing customer from years ago and called them first this time for a job but they showed up and were arrogant and rude and refused to wipe their shoes before stepping into the house.
Can you imagine - if it's that hard for a moving company to wipe the shoes before walking into a house, then can you trust them with taking care not to dent or break things in your house?
"We were hire to move one piece which weighted about 350 Lbs. The greeting we got from him was I hope you did not walk on brigs which was the pat to get to the from door which we did because it was no sign saying “Do not walk” his second thing that it came out his mouth was did you brought booties I said no because to try to move a 350 lbs item up stairs is not going to be safe, than he said you guys are not getting into my house I did said fine than we are not going to do the job, than he said well let’s get your shoes disinfected, I did said excuse me he said yes disinfected, I did said to him sorry but I’m canceling your job. He said to me I’m calling [name removed] and see what she said about it and close de door on us and I did walk away from the house. When he spoke to Erika he threaten Erika if the owner did not call him within two hours he was going to post reviews all over, himself and all his crew. When I did arrive at the office I did call him and told him that I was the owner he said you are the one who does not give a sh????? And hand up on me and here we are with the reviews. If he would ask nicely please wipe your shoes I will believe that we would it done it. But he never use the word “wipe”"

When I called around, Five Star gave me the most affordable estimate. Erika was reasonable on the phone, but she doesn't do the moving, and doesn't control when the movers actually show up.
For my pickup in Worcester, the movers were hours late. They did not call me to tell me they were coming late. When I called the office, I was assured they would be arriving in 10 minutes. Another hour later, they had not shown up. They eventually showed up and put my things into their truck.
A few days later, a driver called me to tell me he was driving to CA, and I could expect my items in 5-8 days. At least I think that was what he said - he was very difficult to understand. He FINALLY called me 7 days later, to say he would arrive the following day, between 11 and 2. Then he called at 1:30pm, to say he would arrive at 6pm. He finally showed up at 8pm, many many hours after originally promised. When he finally arrived, in a much larger truck than was used to pick up my stuff, he insisted that he could not bring it close to the building (despite an option to do so), and would charge me for a long carry. He left me no choice but to pay him extra money, or he would keep my items.
Finally, they left balls of used tape and other packing materials in various spots around my apartment and hallway.
I guess the moral of the story is you get what you pay for, but i certainly did not get the service described in the other Angie's list reviews.
"In the moving industry it's impossible to guaranty the arrival time on the afternoon jobs just because we do not know what are we going to face on the morning job. In the cross country jobs they always get send out on a tractor trailer. We explain to the clients if the tractor trailer do not fir in the delivery address they may have to pay for shuttle service or long carry."
