"Gusty wind threw a rock and smash one of our storm window. I found Arlmont Glass from Angies List. Called first thing in the morning. I was thinking it is going to be a 2 weeks project (schedule appointment for estimate, and schedule another appointment for work....etc). But April was so extremely helpful. She sent someone over to the house to give an estimate within 2 hours and gave a very reasonable quote. The work was done on the same day as well. Within another few hours, the work was done. While they were there, I also have them fix a piece of glass on our garage door that has a crack. Their quality of work was excellent. Everything was handle with care and they are very professional. Another gem I found on Angies' List. I will definitely use them again for future glass projects."

"The work went very well. Bob restored the vertical members at the corner of the house and buttoned it up nicely. His initial estimate of about a day and a half's work for this job would have run to about $1500, but he was able to nearly complete it in a single day, which allowed me to hire him for the additional work on the porch deck and fascia. He formed bevel joints in the fascia boards instead of just butting them up, which made for a better looking and tighter joint, and installed louver vents for the necessary ventilation. As we discussed the work, he gave me some helpful recommendations of things I could do myself (caulking etc.) to avoid future problems. He also included a written estimate for another job (replacing a basement window) that we had discussed as a possibility for spring '09. The extra step of sending me pictures of the work in progress helped to reassure me that he had assessed the problem correctly and was on track toward a correct repair. In addition, Bob was very pleasant to talk with and compare notes about home ownership and projects in general. I would not hesitate to use his services again."

"A crew showed up at 9:00 AM the morning of, and by 3:00 PM they had replaced 11 double-hung windows on the house, cleaned up inside, and removed all the old windows. Inside and outside will require some minor follow-up clean-up, sanding and painting of pre-existing wood that was exposed in the process, but that was not part of the contracted work."

"I must made a mistake and hit the "contact me" button. Jay called me within an hour and I appreciate his responsiveness. Unfortunately i needed a window frame repaired not the glass. Sorry, Jay. Will keep you in mind when the time is right."
If you have a problem with your window, such as broken glass, minor leaks, or a problem with your window being stuck, repairing the broken part might be a cheaper option than replacing the entire window. However, if you have a deteriorating window frame or major leaks, buying a new window will be the better long-term solution.
Window replacement can become costly, especially if you’re replacing your whole home. There are a few steps you can take to help save money on the bottom cost while still giving your windows a facelift.
Replace multiple windows at once to bundle your purchase
Inquire about discounts, coupons, or special offers
Consider window repair as soon as you see damage to help prevent the need for replacement
Maintain your windows often by inspecting your windows for drafts, leaks, and cracks
There are certain window repairs that are cost-effective to DIY and relatively simple for homeowners to tackle themselves. Tasks like replacing a screen, replacing a lock, or sealing a window are typically under $30 and take minimal time to do yourself. However, if you need to replace your window or repair a broken double pane, it’s best to call in a professional window replacement installer to lend a hand. Replacing the majority or all of the windows in your home is a time consuming job and best left to a professional.
Window replacement costs between $180 and $410 per window, or an average of $280 per window. However, your specific replacement job could cost as little as $100 or as much as $750. Factors such as frame material, the number of windows you need, and the type of glass you order all impact the overall cost. For example, simple double-glazed windows will cost $3 to $6 per square foot, but the stronger tempered glass ranges from $12 to $14 per square foot.
The time it takes to replace a window is a total of four to 15 weeks. This time includes your initial consultation, appointments for measuring, as well as ordering and manufacturing your windows. For a smaller job, you can expect the total timeline to be on the shorter end, but for a whole house window replacement, it might take longer (or be split into multiple install appointments). Once your windows are created and ready to be installed, your window installer will take 30 to 60 minutes per window to install.
