"I discovered a bat flying around in the attic on a Saturday afternoon. I reached out to Birch Hill and they responded immediately by text and email. As it wasn't an emergency, we scheduled a visit that Monday afternoon for Birch Hill to assess the situation. Birch Hill confirmed the bats and determined that they were probably getting in via a gap in the top of the roof. Birch Hill returned the next day and installed a Roof Guard product along the roof line to prevent access to the attic. They also installed a bat extraction tube for the bats to find their way out. They also recommended chimney caps on the top of our fireplace to prevent potential wildlife access. Additionally, they sealed various holes at the base of the siding of the house. Two weeks later, Birch Hill returned, checked out the attic, and removed the bat extraction tube on the roof, and put the finishing touches on sealing up the exit hole. SUCCESS. These guys are Pros and a pleasure to work with. "

There's anecdotal evidence that apple cider vinegar does help to repel mice. But the best way to repel mice is to keep your home scrupulously clean and seal up any obvious entry points. If you already have a mouse infestation, apple cider vinegar won’t get rid of the critters. Squirrels hate not having access to secure shelter or food sources. Your best line of defense is to make your property less attractive by removing access to these things. In particular, brown recluse spiders are drawn to dark spots with lots of nooks and crannies for nesting, like wood or dirt piles. 

The most common wasps are hornets, yellowjackets, and paper wasps. Both hornets and yellowjackets are black and yellow, and hornets are known to be more aggressive if their nests are disturbed. Paper wasps are black or reddish-brown with yellow markings and often build nests on eaves or branches. You can find anti-rat sprays in most home department stores that may be worth a try. Spray them along fences and in areas where you don’t want rats to go (like around decks) and they may think twice before approaching. For a natural version, you can try a mint spray, since rats generally dislike mint. But even the most effective sprays are unlikely to stop a hungry rat over time.
