"They removed the old asphalt, leveled the gravel underneath, added some more gravel, and laid 3â of asphalt in about 6 hours. They left the yard very neat."

"Professional-Meticulous-Skilled Hiring Willow Creek Land Design was the best decision I could have made! There were many companies to choose from but Willow Creek stood above the rest. It began with an immediate response to my inquiry and continued throughout the project. Communication and prompt response made the process easy. Each interaction was professional and pleasant. I asked for several project bids and needed several drawings to submit with permits, each request was hand carried within a day or 2. Willow Creek was the best choice for many reasons; their excellent management was carried through in the quality of their team. Johnny and his crew treated the jobsite, my property, like it was their own. They put plywood down to protect the area where they would be walking. Meticulously attending to the smallest detail, they worked like a well,-oiled machine, creating a wall I wanted them to sign when it was done! I am a designer myself and I am very particular, I see details many people could care less about. This crew is just like me! I was happy to see that one of Johnny's go-to tools was his level! I could not be happier and if their was a rating higher than 5 I would have given it. I have much more work that needs to be done and I'm feeling great about having the best team to help me accomplish it all! I highly recommend Willow Creek Land Design. Grateful in Kingston, Doreen P."

Small jobs welcome

"Diego and his crew did a great job! This was a large 1,200 square foot patio area renovation that included a paver patio, pea gravel patio, grass (sod), cobblestones and a new privacy fence. I then hired him to mulch the property (20 yards). He came when he said he would, cleaned up and got the whole project done in a little over a week. Highly recommend!!"

"So I already had a quote and confirmed appointment from a local tree company, to do the job within 16 weeks. Well 20 weeks later still no contact from them. Got a couple quotes using Homeadvisor, went with Zacharias, did the job within a week... couple of trees down and pruning...on time, hard working, cleaned up area, fair price...totally worth the call if looking for tree work"

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Trenching and boring are two distinct methods for installing underground utilities. Trenching involves digging a channel using equipment like an excavator, trencher, backhoe, or shovel. While it is a simpler process, it causes significant disruption to the surface, landscaping, and surrounding ecosystems.

Boring, also known as directional boring, is a less invasive alternative that uses a drill to create a tunnel for utility lines without disturbing the surface. This method is more precise and is ideal for installations that need to go underneath buildings, roads, or bodies of water. Although boring is less disruptive, it is generally more expensive than trenching.

Trenching is a specific kind of digging. Trenching means digging a depression in the earth that’s deeper than it is wide, often with heavy machinery. Digging refers to any kind of removal of earth in order to create a human-made depression, hole, or cut in the earth’s surface. You can dig with big tools or even with just a hand shovel.

Water lines are buried at various depths, depending on the type of line. For example, most sprinkler lines are buried between four and 12 inches underground. On the other hand, water mains usually sit between one and 3 feet below ground. However, they can go even deeper in cold climates to prevent freezing.

There is no standard depth for burying a septic tank; they are typically buried anywhere from 4 inches to 4 feet underground. The final depth depends on several factors, including the depth of your main sewer line, the height of the bedrock, soil type, local regulations, and the property's landscape. If you plan to grow grass or plants over the tank, a depth of at least 4 to 6 inches is recommended. Deeper tanks can be more difficult to locate, but a septic professional can help find it for you.

Chipmunks dig their burrows about three feet deep and up to 30 feet long. The entrances can be two inches wide or more. Chipmunks are fiercely protective of their burrows and use them to protect the nuts and seeds they gather for the long winters.
