"I bought my unit from NETR in 2018. It worked fine until we discovered it wasn't blowing any cold air. I made the big mistake of hiring someone a family friend recommended and they diagnosed it incorrectly and then basically disappeared on me. Anyway, it took a few weeks but they repaired it today and I was impressed with their courtesy and getting the job done very quickly and successfully. I felt like I was being dealt with honestly. Thanks, Jared and Jack. I should mention I paid about $300 for the refrigerant today. I don't know what the final cost will be but probably a bit over $1000."

"Paul was fantastic! He did an excellent job installing 4 ceiling fans for us. He kept me updated on what steps were needed in each location (e.g., removing existing track lighting, installing a fan box, extending the wiring, etc.) and worked efficiently. Paul was also kind enough to explain things to me, which I really appreciated. He has been in the field for a long time and is a wealth of knowledge. I will definitely reach out to Paul for future projects involving electrical!"

"I have hired him. Need to buy new ceiling fan before he can complete the work. But his diagnostic work was A1. The fan installation was excellent. he came on time and cleaned up when done. Very nice job. I would definitely hire again."

"Very good price, and excellent work, I didn't expect to have the job done as neat and nice as it came out to be. Gaudet Electric did a job form me in a finished ceiling and walls, and when I say you can't tell if they have touched the ceiling or walls I am not exaggerating. I will definitely use them again."

"Overall the work that was done was ?fine? Carmen was not on site for basically the entire project and we had a team of 2 do the work. There was an issue of a wire cut that I was not made aware of until I asked about it, we had a ceiling fan replaced and turns out that there was a short in the wiring that was completely ignored. I had another company take care of this after the fact.. house was not kept clean (no drop clothes and no boot covers while on site) this was likely due to no supervision. I had to clean up most of the mess at the end of the days and I had to dispose of all debris, boxes, etc. Pricing was fair but based on my experience I would not use them again. It?s unfortunate because Carmen seems great just too busy with other projects and not present. Communication was subpar. This was not a small project as we shelled out over 6k. Had it been a smaller project I may not be as critical."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

If you’re removing a ceiling fan without visible screws, start by locating the fan canopy—a round cover placed above the fan blades and motor. There should be a thin ring that can be turned counterclockwise to remove the canopy and reveal the screws. After unscrewing the fan, you can disconnect the wires and remove the entire fan from the mounting hardware. For safety, make sure the fan switch is turned off before you remove the canopy. It may be easier to remove the fan blades first, too.

In short, no. You can use the square footage range chart in this article to determine the right size ceiling fan for both indoor and outdoor spaces. However, weather elements can damage types of ceiling fans that aren't designed for outdoor use, so your ceiling fan should be weather-resistant if you plan to install it outside.

If you’re replacing an old fixture with a ceiling fan, you usually won’t need a permit, but if your electrician runs new wiring for the fixture, you likely will need a permit. Building permits are necessary in most municipalities if you’re making changes to your electrical system, so even if you have partial wiring run to the area and need new wiring installed for added functionality, you’ll probably need a permit. Your electrician should be able to let you know if you need one, and they’ll typically file the paperwork for you.

Stainless steel or aluminum fans are long-lasting and have less air resistance. They are best for outdoor use as their durability helps them withstand unpleasant weather conditions. Their heavy weight requires a stronger motor, which leads to more noise than other blade materials.

Wooden fan blades are a classic, durable option. They are much quieter than metal fans and feature a wide range of styles and finishes to choose from. However, they can be damaged by moisture if not covered with plastic.

Plastic fan blades are lightweight, easy to clean, and versatile. There are various shapes and styles to choose from as plastic is easily molded and dyed. They will also deteriorate slower than other materials as they aren’t as susceptible to humidity and moisture.

Identifying the source of noises is your first step to soundproofing a room without overspending. Generally, sound comes from inside or outside of the house. Inside noises include creaking floors, living noises like TVs in the living room, cooking sounds, or kids being kids. External noises generally include incremental weather, disturbing neighbors, and street traffic. Inside noises require you to soundproof floors, ceilings, and doors, whereas outside noises may require you to soundproof your attic, windows, and walls facing the streets.
