Generally, if your neighbor’s tree hangs over your yard, you can legally trim overhanging branches.   • Dry leaves

  • Flower pods

  • Fruit

  • Fronds overgrown in power lines

  • Frond encroaching upon your neighbor’s home or yard 

  • Visible damage from a storm

DIY pruning is possible for small shrubs with basic tools, but safety concerns recommend professionals for larger or more hazardous removals.
