"Hooperâ s Tree Service did an excellent job on quoting on the project, giving us a timeline on when they could fo it and executing the job at a very high level. I was not able to be here when they came to do the work and trusted they would get the job done and they exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend Hooperâ s tree service! 5 Star for sure."

"Woodstreeservices were as professional as it could get. On st Patrick’s day a tree came down right next to my house after had happened I worried about another storm taking down a tree that stood over my house. I called woodstreeservices, immediately they answered the phone and were able to come and give me a free estimate and price on how much it would cost. After the estimate they sent an invoice and schedule a date to take down the branches above my house… could not be more happy."

Customers say: True professional

"Everything was great from start to finish. Very reasonably priced. The huge pine we had removed was over 100 feet tall. They had all the necessary equipment to skillfully cut down the tree. It was amazing to watch. We highly recommend Hooper's Tree Service. George E."

"Incredibly well!! They arrived on time, set the crane in neighbor's driveway, quickly and safely cut, hoisted to street and disposed of trees in grinder. Returned 3 days late with stump grinder and removed 2 side aprons to get machine into back yard, reinstalled aprons, quickly and efficiently ground the stumps and removed & reinstalled the aprons to get out of yard."

"Individual came by, which is very unusual as other landscapers who we would of have considered never called back! Project as we discussed was well out of our price range as compared with other companies previously used. Also, I inquired about types of plants and bushes that I was considering adding to our islands, but he appeared not to have much knowledge as to plant /bush options. Even after we reduced the plans of the project the price was still too high."

"Steve showed up on time and gave us an estimate. When we were finally able to coordinate the work (over 1 month later!), he responded promptly and was faithful to the estimate. The work was done on-time, was respectful to the house, and everything was thoroughly cleaned up afterwards. He is pleasant to work with, and the price was fair. He'll be the first person I call for any further demo work."

"Twins Tree Service did an amazing job. Trimmed and cleaned my trees to my specifications. Left my yard clean. Juan came to my home and evaluated the project I needed done. He was very reasonable with his estimate for 2 trees. He and his crew arrived when they were supposed to and considerate of my time. I would utilize the company again for future projects and highly rerecommend them to others looking for tree service. Small company looking to expand their customer base."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Late August, September, and mid-October are the ideal months for planting a young tree. However, the best time to plant a tree ultimately depends on when the weather transitions to fall-like conditions and eventually winter frost. As long as the hottest days of summer have passed and the ground hasn’t frozen yet, you can still successfully plant trees.

Whether tree roots will continue to grow after a tree has been cut down depends on the species. Some tree roots will eventually die because they can no longer get nutrients through photosynthesis. However, other species that reproduce through root sprouts can continue to grow and produce new sprouts for seven years or more. For example, the roots of elms, ficus, and willows tend to regrow aggressively, while the roots of pines, oaks, and maples will typically die. To determine if a root system is still active, look for new sprouts on the old trunk, stump, or any exposed roots.

Since summer is a busy time for tree companies, the cheapest time of year to remove a tree is during the winter. February and March are typically the prime time to hire a tree removal pro, and some homeowners living in colder climates can save around 20% off services. It depends on location and the company, but you can always shop around for the best deal.

Generally, you’ll want to avoid pruning more than 25% of the tree’s canopy at one time. While pruning your tree is important, it’s possible to do it too often or to go too far. Again, this is why hiring a tree trimming pro to do the work is wise. However, if you do decide to DIY, going slow and trimming gradually is the name of the game.

For trimming trees, your best tool is a pair of pruning shears or loppers. Both options work best for branches that are under 3 inches in diameter. Trimming trees with a larger diameter may require a robust tool like a small chainsaw or a handsaw, so take into account your tree’s diameter when deciding between tools.
