Let me assure you, not true. I never met Michael before doing this project, and can, with great assurance, say his work is the best I've seen. Someone else reviewed him and said "anything Michael says he can do, you should let him do." My advice to you: hire him, and do what he tells you to. You will be amazed.
Our story: I wanted a new kitchen (hated our 80's oak cabinets), but the cabinets still worked pretty well. We priced out everything -- replacing the cabinets entirely with cheaper lines from Home Depot, to refacing, to refinishing, to painting. In the end, our budget dictated the project. It's a galley kitchen, and there wasn't going to be much improvement in space utilization or layout with new construction. Refacing would have been nice, but it's surprisingly expensive, and our cabinet doors and hinges were already better quality than what they were selling. Besides, I was getting little buy-in from the hubby on the revamp, since the kitchen "worked just fine." Since the hideous oak just HAD to go (it hurt my eyes just to look at), we finally settled on painting the cabinets. While I've done a lot of painting, I wasn't going to take on cabinets - no way were they going to look good as a DIY project. So, I had to hire someone. I looked at some of the cabinet-painters in town, and general painters. Michael was one of the first to come by to take a look.
First, he's quite a character (you'll get this when you meet him). Enthusiastic, engaged, interested, full of great ideas, listens well to what you want, and he has excellent taste. Second: Go ahead, let him talk you into something creative. I was going to paint the cabinets a nice neutral beige. They are now the most amazing deep plum, soothing, beautiful, and colorful all at the same time. He has a great eye for color and design. Third: If he says it needs to be done, it needs to be done. I was not going to re-do the backsplash ($600+ for wall tiles!?! On my budget?!) Great call - Michael put up beautiful slate tiles he cut himself, and it completely made the kitchen come together. Finally, the quality of work is excellent. We've had a lot of painting done in this house and previous ones, with contractors, painters, and we've done plenty ourselves. Michael and crew put that work to shame - he's a perfectionist, and the painting itself came out BEAUTIFUL, the next best thing to a factory-finish on the cabinets. Actually, it looks like I went and bought purple cabinets.
Then there's the extras: needed a bench painted, done. Needed a new back on the kitchen island cabinets (a salvage from Craig's List), done. Needed to properly vent the fridge through surrounding cabinets, done. Needed to create a base for a couple of wall cabinets that I was using as a small counter under a window, done. Fix that crooked cabinet door? done. Replace all the hinges, put up new hardware, done.
The very short list of things you should know: He's busy, so it took a few calls to get him started, but once he was nudged, he was on it. He was here, on appointed day and time, and his team is fast and efficient, and he saw the project through quickly. He also cleaned up every day, so our kitchen was rarely out of commission. Price: just a caveat: I did not price out the entire project with other providers, but his price on cabinets was comparable, and his work and advice was excellent. In the end, we spent more than originally planned (backsplash, repainted rest of kitchen). All of it was well-spent, none of it broke the bank, and I've got a kitchen that looks better that what I would have gotten from a kitchen showroom.
We are looking for an estimate on another project, and depending on budget and estimate, we plan to hire Michael again. I will keep you posted on how project #2 goes!

The sales person I ordered the cabinets from was very pleasant and I was excited for the project to start. On the day the work was scheduled 2 workers were sent to my home and worked without any supervision. They tore out 3 shelves in my pantry that did not need to be removed and drywall damage occured. I had a very expensive butcher block on top of the temporary dishwasher I was using and they threw that away. They also threw away a special can opener that I have for my daughter who's fine motor skills are impaired. They removed wall boards in the kitchen which I use to hang pots and pans. When I inquired about having them put back up the said \"too late now\". They were also supposed to hook up a temorary sink for me to use while the work was taking place and they did not. I went from Nov-Jan, the entire holiday season, without water in my kitchen. I had to buy bottled water and/or bring water from my bathrooms to use in the kitchen. When they finally arrived with the cabinets they were the wrong size. They ended up installing a small, non-usable cabinet next to my stove to fill the space. There was a water leak that occurred once the sink was finally reconnected. I called Lowe's to tell them about this and they sent a plumber out. The plumber informed me that the sink had not been reconnected properly, and the cabinet would have to be replaced due to the water damage. Again, I had to wait for them to bring out another cabinet. It was May before they finally finished the project and came out to make repairs to my pantry. The experience was an absolute nightmare. She came up with a great design, took our suggestions, and has a wonderful eye for detail. She was also patient when we added a window at the last minute, which meant removing and redesigning a cabinet. She also redid a few smaller, architectural details when we didn't like the finished look. We were totally satisfied with Cathy.
The price was great. Other kitchen stores in our area wanted 50% more than Mediterranean, for cabinets of the same or lesser quality. Mediterranean builds their cabinets locally (vs. other places that import them from Canada or wherever) so that's a plus also.
The installers were pretty good. The initial visit was OK:They put everything up well and made a few mistakes. Fixing those mistakes was a long process of follow-up visits: they'd show up and do the work, then we'd get home and discover they'd done only 75% of what we'd asked and made 1 or 2 minor errors. Repeat this a few times. They were also late several times. Eventually it all got done. I'm told that the installers were super-busy (overbooked) so perhaps some delays were understandable, but still, the facts are the facts.
My only real issue was with the owner, Harry. At first he was terrific, negotiating the price, showing us proudly around his factory (which was really interesting, by the way), and so on. As the job went on, he became a bottleneck on a few of the fixes, resulting in long delays. ("Harry still hasn't gotten back to me on that.") I do appreciate that he personally came out to take care of final fixes, but every time I'd point out something, he'd get defensive. For instance, I indicated a cabinet where another contractor had scratched it and asked if he could "fix the ding on that cabinet." He immediately became bad tempered as if I were blaming him (which I wasn't), even though I'd said I was happy to PAY for these kinds of fixes. (I just wanted the cabinets to look their best.) Eventually he took a paintbrush and literally slopped paint onto the "ding", which looked like crap when it dried. This kind of behavior happened several more times on that visit. Maybe he was having a bad day, because in the beginning of the job he was fine, but as a result I had to fix his sloppy paint job myself.
Overall, we love our new cabinets, the price was reasonable, and the designer (Cathy) was great to work with. I would use them again."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ma/west-bridgewater/mediterranean-custom-cabinets-reviews-4485082.htm"},"position":8},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Britton Homes LLC","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"MA","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Jorge H."},"reviewBody":"They did a great job (I can show before and after pictures). We thought the job was pricey but over time we realized the materials and craftsmanship were top-notch, so we got what we paid for. Only glitch was a vent with asbestos that was hiding behind the plywood and that needed to be dealt with appropriately. They worked everything out with minor changes to the estimate. Now it is 3 years later and Jim Britton gives us a call to see how things have progressed over time and to check if we still like out kitchen. We love out kitchen, the family congregates there daily! We mentioned a list of minor things that we wanted fixed or tweaked, nothing major: I burned a cabinet face, other cabinet laminate was coming off due to moisture from the tea pot (both our doing), a faucet finish was pealing off, etc. The common wear and tear that happens and you might even not fix. Within 3 weeks Jim gets the replacement parts for said cabinets and faucet, and sends his best carpenter (Mike Lynch) to fix the stuff and some other minor touch ups. I come home to a fixed kitchen and a happy wife! Jim and his company (his son Patrick is in the business) will go through a detailed estimate of the work and proceed to do it on time and with your input in mind. It was a very pleasant experience. The fact that Jim came back to check on his work is proof of his professionalism, which is evident on all the guys that work for him. Definitely recommend this company for minor or major work. We had a glass front curio cabinet refinished and it came out beautiful. From start to finish, Restorers Without Borders was there to answer any questions and listened to our concerns. The cabinet was done before expected time. It was picked up and dropped off carefully.
He gave best price (out of three Angie's list A-rated cabinet refacing companies) for replacing all kitchen cabinet doors, as well as drawer boxes and adding pull out drawers in cabinets. Very nice, personable owner. I decided not to do any work in the kitchen but when I do I will hire...

"Very easy to work with in terms of responsiveness. Reasonable pricing but the craftmanship itself is phenomenal. This is my second project with him and I will definitely be using him for any projects in my house moving forward. He is really good at what he does. By moving the laundry from the basement to the second floor was not easy because I didn't have a lot of space to do it and several people said that we can't do it but he's the only person who made it work and it's beautiful. It's perfect. It's exactly what I was looking for. His knowledge and his craftmanship is phenomenal."

American Bath Works is a bathroom renovation company. We started as a plumbing company and have specialized in bathrooms and kitchens since 1996. We do our own plumbing, heating, carpentry, tile, and plaster work, so we are able to control and expedite most aspects of our projects. We care about quality and cleanliness and set a high standard for all of our work.
"Lester and his team did a great job on our bathroom remodel. He is very detail oriented: the insides of the walls were just as neat and clean as the final finish of the walls, tile, and fixtures. And he was very easy to work with. We hand built a custom cabinet to replace the old bathroom closet. For many contractors, having a homeowner perform part of a remodel could have been difficult for them. Lester took it all in stride and adjusted his workflow to let us do our part. We are very pleased with the final result. We recommend American Bath Works highly and would hire them again in a minute."
