Moises gave me a good quote to pull up the entire walkway, lay down a crushed stone base, and reinstall the pavers, and scheduled the work within a week of approving the project. "After several attempts to just hire Golden Hill Landscaping & Construction (during a bid process), I finally did. The rates seemed comparable, at first. However, there were many projects to be completed at my deceased mother's house. Because I am disabled and not able to get to the property, I couldn't see how badly I was taken advantage of. Not only did I pay for a job they did not do, I also paid for another job that is unfinished, plus a french drain that is causing a sink hole, and the buried equipment is now above ground. All 3 of these projects pose safety risks. The french drain collapse is only a few months after installation. After bringing these issues to the owners attention (the unfinished project I'd requested be completed for months), the owner began ignoring me. When I mentioned that litigation was going to move forward, the owner said he'd look at the work that week then blew me off again. When they actually do work, Golden Hill's quality of work is atrocious and will need to be fixed. They broke the house vinyl siding when cutting down a tree branch and refused to fix it. I hired a contractor to fix that. They will overcharge (snowplowing is expensive), take advantage of you if you are a senior or disabled, and will try to get paid without working. They should not be in business and allowed to take advantage. I now have to pay someone else to fix their work, finish their work, and do a $375 job they never did. They've been paid over $10,000, with more work to be done at multiple properties. They agreed to do a quote at a second property, then never showed up. One would figure, with that kind if business, a company would want to perform quality work and respond to a dedicated customer. Aroldo at Golden Hill Landscaping & Construction will do a poor job or not at all, blow off appointments, ignore requests, and refuse to fix problems. He will, however, not hesitate to pick up a check. You should not ever hire them. If you do, be prepared to throw money away."

"I hired John Caruso of Stoned Masonry and Construction in Newton, MA to replace a trench drain in my driveway. He provided a detailed contract and requested a $2000 down payment for the $4000 job, which I provided by credit card in an online transaction. He acknowledged receipt, and said he would begin work in one week. During that week, I tried to contact him by text, phone, and email concerning his request to leave materials in my garage before he began work, but received no reply. I repeated these contact attempts to inquire about his arrival time the day before and the day of his promised arrival. He never responded and he never arrived. My credit card company will try to recover my money, but I strongly advise you not to hire this person. If you do, definitely do not giver him an advance payment by check!"

"My house is on a little bit of a hill. Over the years, the retaining wall and brick columns lean out. I had just asked Franky to push it all back and repair the brick columns. This was incredibly difficult because of a concrete slab in one section and a large chunk of concrete attached to the bottom of the wall in another section. He had to repeatedly pushed and pushed on this wall until it was in the original position. After that, he drilled holes in the walls, the brick columns and the slabs, then inserted rebar and poured concrete to tie it all together. This was not part of what I asked him to do, but now, thanks to his hard work, this wall is probably 10 times stronger than it's ever been. In addition to that, in our sweeping up the area each day, I had pointed out a section of the sidewalk where one section was sticking up about an inch higher than the other, creating a big trip hazard. This was the city's responsibility, yet he took the time to do a very professional repair that I'm sure the city would be very impressed by. As I mentioned, this is one of the hardest working guys I've seen. You won't be disappointed by his work."
