For some reason I often get frustrated with contractors but Ed was truly an exception. He really represents my benchmark for a good contractor - great communication, always followed through, attention to detail, organized and ultimately did great work. It's been over two years since the work was done and every paver is still perfectly in place in the front walkway and not a stone has come loose in the stone wall.

Extremely well.
we have been working with Ed for last 3 years to slowly cut down on lawn and add organic, native garden that is more wildlife friendly. Ed is knowledgeable, patient and very professional. He spent enough time with me to understand my needs and requirements and came up with a lovely plan. I am glad I hired him to work on our garden.

This project could have gone well or it could have been a disaster. But with Ed Coykendall, it was a real success. The shrubs he moved could have died, the area he cleared could have been sloped and muddy instead of level and stable, and the hillside he shaped could have slumped and eroded (if he hadn't showed us how to maintain it). None of that happened because of his careful preparation and post-installation instructions to us. Ed is very knowledgeable and experienced, and he is an excellent communicator. He was the only landscaper who noticed that our ornamental trees were getting a disease from a juniper tree elsewhere ion the property. From beginning to end, he was careful and detailed, but also saw the big picture and gave us great advice. His proposal was accurate, and he modified the contract as we changed things here and there to keep track of everything. Most importantly, he checked in with us frequently by phone (and with photos!) during the multi-day job to make sure we were happy with the placement and angle of the berm, the hillside, and the cleared area. We didn't feel that we had to stay home from work during the project because he was so communicative. That's a level of trust that we've rarely had with a contractor of any type. So Ed was the first (and only) person we called now (8 months later) to do the next phase of our landscape work - paved pathways and entryways. He had some great ideas and is tailoring his proposal to our budget (e.g., pavers that look great but aren't too expensive). We know it will turn out great.

Excellent - Ed and his crew are professional, prompt, courteous and perform high quality work with enthusiasm. I was completely satisfied with the whole project - from the initial meeting to the final installation. It is great to hire someone who loves what he does and who focuses on customer satisfaction.
I will hire them again -when I am ready to update our front yard!
I highly recommend Landscape Artisans.

did it all in about 2 hours, explained everything; promised to send estimates for other work we need in the future; even came back to finish mulching when he did not get delivery of mulch as expected - we originally thought we couldn't get that done until spring. the place looks infinitely better!

He has been really good for everyone that he has done work for.  The work came out great even two years later.  It was just a very simple maintenance landscape design for the plants and now I am having him work in an area in my back for me in another month.
