"I can't say enough good things about Reinaldo and his team at RF Home Improvement. The addition attached to the rear of the house, which is adjacent to the Kitchen. They covered all of the walls to minimize the inconvenience to us during construction. They were thoughtful not to break through the exterior wall into the interior until the entire addition was air tight and insulated. Even then, they placed barrier walls to minimize the dust in the house. The work is top quality. The team was there every day even though the project began over the winter. When buying caulk, look for ones labeled for tub and tile. These have either acrylic latex or silicone compounds. This allows the caulk to stick to smooth surfaces and prevent mildew from forming.

The reglazed tub won’t last as long as a brand-new bathtub. Professional reglazing jobs can only last up to 15 years.

According to most pros, you can only reglaze a tub once or twice. So, if you’ve already reglazed your tub once, it might not be a realistic solution.

Some chemicals used in reglazing a bathtub can be dangerous to your health. If you’re DIYing the project, ensure the room is ventilated, and always wear a mask. If you hire a contractor, make sure you get the clearance to use the bathroom again.

There are a few ways to check whether your tub is fiberglass or acrylic. If your tub is a color other than white, then your tub is likely acrylic (as fiberglass tubs are usually white). Check to see if there is discoloration on the bottom of the tub, because if it’s yellowed, then you can be fairly sure it’s fiberglass.

Also, fiberglass tubs have thinner edges and are cool to the touch. Acrylic, on the other hand, is either room temperature or warm to the touch.
