Masterpiece Finishes

Gary and Josh did a great job. They were always punctual, professional and accommodating. They were extremely detail-oriented and take great pride in their work. The paint work was impeccable. We asked them to do several things outside of the original scope and they did not hesitate to accommodate our request. They were on site while another contractor was doing siding work and proactively worked with the siding contractor to coordinate. Best contractors of any kind that I have used.

He was prompt, professional and he cleaned up very well after the work. You couldn't even tell he had been there. There was some miscommunication about some details and he honored the difference. Very, very professional.

This was one of the best experiences I have had with a contractor! He was completely punctual. The work was done on schedule, in an efficient and professional manner. They did quite a bit of sanding to prepare the walls, and still the house was very clean at the end of each day. The paint job is beautiful! I absolutely recommend Gary and his company, and look forward to hiring him again in the future for other work in the house.

Gary Clark and his crew not only prepared and painted my house professionally and cleaned up after themselves, but Gary also proposed sanding, repairing, and staining my back deck to restore it. His estimated price for this extra work was reasonable, so I agreed to add it to the house painting. The deck now looks like new after years of neglect (by me). My house looks fabulous, too, especially with the like-new back deck and vinyl shutters painted a new, vibrant color. I cannot recommend Masterpiece Finishes more highly.

Initially, it took a few calls to get a response, but based on the time of year and the high ratings on Angie's List, I persisted.  After he returned my call, Gary came to the house for an estimate within a day or two.  His estimate was very detailed, giving information for each room.  He also explained in detail what he would do when he came to the house for the first time.  His estimate was, I thought, quite reasonable considering the time of year.  He had an opening between jobs to do the exterior within a few days.  Before he finished the exterior, there was a delay in his current project, so he did the interior of the house the next week.  He's very efficient and does impeccable work.  I had a bedroom where I just removed some old wallpaper and was planning to remove the paste during the time I figured I'd have to wait for a painter, but since he was able to get in so soon, I asked if he could remove the paste and prepare the walls in addition to the planned work.  He was very willing to add the task (understandably at an additional cost), but I was very glad not to have to do it.  Cleanup was very thorough as well - except for the newly painted walls and ceilings, you couldn't tell he was there.  I would definitely recommend Masterpiece Finishes and wouldn't hesitate to hire him again.

Gary responded quickly to my request and performed a careful, complete fix of the roof cupola edges subject to leakage. Although it had been over 2.5 years since he painted our house, his professional response and very modest charge to perform the requested service was much appreciated. Gary has always provided us with quality service at a fair price.

We have a large house (built in 1926) with a family room addition (built in 1993) and a pool/pool deck. When Gary Clark (Owner of Masterpiece) came to estimate the job, I was immediately impressed by his listening skills! (I'd already met with three other painters and ruled two of them out before they got to the end of my driveway because they were so dismissive of my concerns.) Gary clearly understood the carpentry help we'd need before painting could begin, and wasn't at all put off by that work. As we walked around the house discussing the project, I pointed out some areas where the paint from our last paint job bubbled in just a couple years, as well as a peak on the end of the family room roof that the prior painter skipped all together. He told me what he thought might be the problem with the bubbling, and assured me he would address it if he got the job.  I was not intending to have any work done on the pool deck, but Gary asked if he could include a power-wash and staining of it in his estimate. (I liked his initiative!) 
We got his estimate...by far the MOST THOROUGH estimate we'd ever received for painting....and were impressed again. His estimate included all the carpentry work for the house and the pool deck work and still beat all his competitors with whom I spoke.  (Not one of the competitors was willing/able to include the carpentry work, so that was going to be an add-on expense for us.)
Shortly after we returned from a lengthy vacation, I called to give him the green light to start and he was at our house the following week. He arrived each morning around 8, and never left before 5. One day he worked until about 7:30 so he could finish up the carpentry and get to the scraping, etc. the next day.  His carpentry work was spot-on and he did the best scraping and sanding job we've ever seen.  (He put down cloths to contain the paint chips and cleaned up, immaculately.)  His work included priming the entire house after scraping/sanding; two coats of paint on the house, window trim, fascia boards, soffits, ceilings on two large side-porches; painting of spindles on the front and one of the side porches; painting the lattice work on one of the side porches; painting the floors of all three porches; painting the kitchen door; and staining the wooden parts of the pool deck. We ended up needing a bit more carpentry work than we'd first discussed, but the additional cost for that was minimal. 
We couldn't be happier with his work and would encourage everyone to give him a chance to estimate your job. He's got an incredible work ethic, and is very easy to talk with about any concerns you might have. He even grinned every time my husband called him someone else's name. When I posted some pictures of our newly painted house on Facebook for our friends and family to see, I wrote on my post "Love our painter."  He's FANTASTIC! 
As a side note:  When I called the painter who "came in 2nd" to tell him we'd chosen a different painter, he asked if we were going with Masterpiece. When I said yes, he told me Gary does very good work. That made me feel even better about our choice.

The first meeting was conducted to provide an estimate.  The estimate was very detailed and contained all areas that had been discussed, including availability of services.
No payment required until the first day o fthe job (this is unusual and unexpected).  Provided down payment at the start.  Work proceeded as weather allowed with comminication regarding any delays that were encountered due to weather.  i was kept informed throughout the enitre process.
During the end phase of the job, a turkey decided to track through some wet paint and managed to make some interesting prints on the freshly painted surface.  i would expect to pay extra to have these corrected as it was outside of their control.  No extra charge for coming up an extra day to correct this problem.  I couldn't believe that level of service.
We plan on using Masterpiece Finishes in the future and look forward to working with them.  Proffesional, on time, on budget, and quality work.  Start to finish.

It could not have gone better.  Gary was phenomenal to deal with.  He is pleasant, courteous, and always answers his cell phone.  My house is a very high 2 story contemporary.  It got a new roof last year and Gary was very patient and came back 2x to apply 8 different color samples on both the front and back of the house. We had a problem with the garage door openers leaving an oil stain streak on the doors, so he suggested and applied a contrasting paint to the doors and their trim.  Looks great!  In the process of powerwashing they ended up also powerwashing the front stairs and sidewalk even though it was not part of the contract.  To save some money and because I like to paint, we did not opt to have the 2 decks stained by Masterpiece.  Even thought they were not staining the decks, Gary got enough stain so we would have enough (a price savings to us) and - the best part - they ended up spraying the underside of the upper deck so I didn't have to do it!   He also recommended a product to use on the deck surfaces and  they look great too.  Cannot say enough about his work ethic and professionalism.  We are having him back this winter to do some interior painting.

They came when they said they would, and the results exceeded our expectations. This is how it should be when you hire someone for a job.

Gary was absolutely amazing.  When i called, Gary was very busy and booked for several weeks in advance.  I was moving into a home that needs a lot of love, attention and updating in Gary's home town.  I gave him very little notice.  Gary didnt think he could do it....a few minutes later Gary called me back to tell me that he would make it happen!!!!  When could i meet him???  On a side note, I had called 3 other painters from Angie's List, none of which returned my call.  Gary met with me within 48 hours, reviewed all the work that will need to be done over the next year, with the main project to be the 3 bedrooms first.  Gary had the quote to me within 24 hours and the work began 2 days after  that.  He told me 4 days to complete, he was done in 3!!!!  Time enough for us to move in!!!  I will NEVER consider another person or contractor to do all the work that needs to be done on the house.  The work was flawless and beautifully done!!!  I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!  Thank you Gary!!!!!  Looking forward to getting the foyer done next!!!  :)

Very prompt response to our initial inquiry. Prompt scheduling at our convenience. Crew arrived on time, ready to work. Crew was respectful of our furnishings, pets and readily asked if they had questions (do we need access to the upstairs or kitchen, for the next several hours while they would be working in those areas).
Work was completed to our total satisfaction in 1/2 day less than estimate.
Gary was present at start and finish each day and checked in several times throughout each day, doing painting and cleanup along with his crew.
We have since hired Gary to power wash the exterior of our house with very satisfactory results.
We plan to have Gary do more interior and exterior work. 
 
 

Gary was very thorough in his verbal assessment of work required for a good paint job on our Cape Cod style house. His written estimate was also very specific in identifying the products to be used, the process and time frame of work to be done, and the price. He responded very quickly to our request for an estimate, and his price was reasonable. 
His workers came at the appointed time, worked diligently throughout the day, and cleaned up after each day's work. Their work was very neat with no chipped paint or drips left behind because they very carefully covered areas not to be painted. We were lucky to have had good weather so that they completed all tasks within a five day period. Throughout the whole time they kept us abreast of each step of the process. 
The experience was very positive, and we are 100% pleased with the work of the Masterpiece Finishes crew. They were extremely professional and conscientious. We will definitely hire them again.

House was very clean upon completion.  The day after the service, there were several dark stains from dripping water and provider came back to clean up the areas.

From start to finish, working with Masterpiece Finishes and its owner, Gary Clark, and his employee Matt, was a completely positive experience. We hired them on a competitive bid basis, after receiving a positive referral. Gary provided a fully written estimate after visiting our property, which was market competitive. He went into detail and broke the estimate down into component parts. He was amenable to negotiate different aspects of the work, such as paint selection -which we were very deliberate about - and breaking the work into installments, a couple of months apart. 
Once we made the decision to hire Masterpiece, Gary and Matt showed up when they said they would. They worked steadily, but with care. They were polite and easy to deal with, while maintaining professionalism at all times. They cleaned up the work site daily. They used the paints we asked them to even though these weren't always the same as what they originally had recommended. The entire job took about two weeks total. After finishing the work, we noticed a few small things over the next weeks that needed remedial action and called Gary about these. He took a half day off from his other work and came out to make the needed fixes as part of his warranty offered on material application.
Overall, Masterpiece gets an "A" all around for the work they did. They are probably not the least expensive alternative that a homeowner could hire, but the quality of the work they did and their professionalism throughout is worth paying a little more for. We have received compliments from neighbors on the job done, and even another painter, who we had asked earlier for a quote and, who happened to be working on a neighbor's house recently, saw the work and told us how nice it looked. We would hire Masterpiece again, without any qualms, and I think anyone contemplating painting their home should at least get a quote from Gary before making a decision.

They did a good job on that. I felt that their price was reasonable, they were prompt, they finished the job in a couple of days, got it as they described they were going to do it, and it has held up to the elements quite well so I was satisfied with it. He gave me a time frame and what they're going to do. He came, he started the job, and finished it, there were no gaps in between from the time he started and he finished it, he has done it in 2 1/2 days.

All services including initial consult and written estimate were performed in a very professional manner. The Masterpiece workers were extremely considerate of our landscaping and outdoor furniture. They came when they said they would, and were very detail-oriented. The final staining results were outstanding and quite frankly exceeded our expectations. We would certainly use Masterpiece in the future for any staining or painting work.

MY DECK IS 28 YEARS OLD, PRESSURE TREATED AND HAS STTOD UP TO THE CHALLENGES OF A SOUTHERN EXPOSURE QUITE WELL.  I NEEDED TO DO ANOTHER TREATMENT TO KEEP THE WOOD SURFACE IN GREAT CONDITION.  THE DECK SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE SEVERAL YEARS AGO.  MASTERPIECE CAME IN, GAVE A GOOD ESTIMATE, AND RECOMMENDATION FOR A STAIN/SEALER THAT IS TOP QUALITY. ( I RESEARCHED IT.)  THEY CAME AS SCHEDULED AND DID THE POWER WASH NOT ONLY ON THE VERY LARGE DECK, BUT THE FRONT PORCH AND THE GARDEN RAILROAD TIES.  I ASKED WHAT IT WOULD COST TO DO THE OTHER LOCATIONS AND THEY SAID NO CHARGE SINCE THE EQUIPMENT WAS ON SITE.  
NICE WORK AND YES I WOULD HIRE THEM AGAIN.
