"Southwrn Berkshire Tree Service did an excellent job trimming large overhanging branches cleaning up piles of brush from older fallen trees and removing three trees one of which was in between the houses and a very tricky removal. They did an exceptionally great job and clean up. I would recommend them to to everyone. The owner operator was so very pleasant and professional. I donâ t usually do reviews but this company did such a great job i wanted to share the experience."

We specialize in Tree Removal, Tree Trimming, Stump Grinding, Brush Clearing, Land Clearing, Tree Pruning, Hedge Trimming, and Gutter Cleaning. When necessary, we remove large or dangerous trees using a crane or a bucket truck. We also use technical rigging and climbing. In addition, during the winter, we can clear ice dams and snow from roofs/decks/etc.

"Steve and his team were great from beginning to the end. Steve worked me into his schedule as I had a fast approaching deadline, many other companies wouldn't even call back or even consider trying to get me in earlier in there schedule. I had a 80-90 foot pine tree between 2 houses, a garage, and a vinyl fence possibly the most worrisome case for most home owners. When Steve came and gave the estimate, he walked me through where his crane was going to be placed with its outriggers and how the removal was going to be performed. When it came to the removal, his crew was clean cut, professional and organized. They removed the tree without incident, and when they left you would have had no idea they were just there with a crew, equipment and a 135 foot crane. To me the price didn't matter since Steve took such great care of the removal, I could probably have had it removed a little cheaper but how smooth the transaction was with Pridemark I had no issue at all paying what I paid. Also all day I had neighbors coming over saying they watched the whole removal and were blown away by how great of a job Pridemark did. They will be the ones I call for all my tree issues and the only tree removal contact I now have saved in my phone."

It’s important for tree companies to be insured because removing, trimming, and pruning trees are dangerous jobs. No matter how skilled a pro is, working with large landscaping tools and towering trees always comes with risks. Ensuring that you hire a tree service company with proper insurance protects both you and the company from any accidents or damage. If the company is properly insured, many issues that crop up during tree service projects will be covered. 

If you’re looking to rot a tree stump fast, potassium nitrate will work far quicker than copper nails. First, drill several holes into the stump using a power drill, then pour potassium nitrate pellets into the holes. Next, add water to help the chemical absorb into the wood, thoroughly soaking the stump to ensure the pellets dissolve and spread evenly. Afterward, cover the stump with a tarp to retain moisture and block sunlight, then place mulch on top to secure it in place.

Ideally, you’ll have a good enough relationship with your neighbors that you can kindly mention this task in regular conversation. However, every neighbor (and neighborhood) is different. Your best bet will always be to ask directly and nicely, offering to contribute to the tree trimming efforts if you’d like. However, if you are bothered by the tree and your neighbor is unwilling to cut it, you can involve the help of the homeowners’ association or local authorities, if applicable.

Completely topping a plum tree is a risky business. Cut too much, and you’ll kill your tree. That said, you do need to trim the top of your tree to encourage bushy growth, maintain your tree’s vase shape, and limit size. 

A plum tree's central leader (or trunk) should never extend more than 3 feet above the highest branch. When you first plant your tree, cut the central leader so it’s 2 to 3 feet tall. As it grows, cut it back 12 to 20 inches until it reaches its desired height. Never prune more than one-third of the new growth.

If you’re wondering whether you can plant a tree where the stump was removed, know that the soil conditions won’t be ideal, so you should avoid it. The soil beneath the previous tree will likely be depleted of nutrients, plus there may be roots left behind that will seriously hinder the growth of a new tree. Also, if you use salt or other chemical solutions to kill the stump, these can linger in the soil for months or even years and prevent healthy growth. It’s best to choose a different spot that’s at least three feet away for a new tree, or wait at least a year and thoroughly amend the soil before you plant.
