"We needed the lawn leveled, dirt added, fertilizer and seed put down. This team was amazing! They started early, didn't stop, and did it with a smile on their face on an extremely hot day. I was also impressed at how they cleaned up after themselves, and recommended other items, like removing some tree branches to ensure sun got it to help the grass grow. I was quoted double by others. They showed up two days after I was quoted, and agreed and got it all done in a day. I will use them for everything I need in the future!!"

"Edgar and his crew have been able to handle every yard project I throw their way. Great crew, no one smoking, no swearing, and no one playing on the phones every 5 minutes. All the guys worked so hard to get everything done. Make an appointment for him to come for the estimate, you will get a call back. Solid guys!"

"I want to start off by saying that M&L landscaping did an amazing job with my yard from start to finish. I contacted with Leo on Saturday and he was able to come by the house the next day. We walked through the yard and talked about ideas for a design for the front of the yard (add color the the landscape and reseed the grass) and also clean up the long neglected backyard. Leo was very friendly, made me feel confident in his feedback and comfortable to proceed with the project. Leo and his crew came the next week and finished the job over a three day period. Throughout Leo kept in touch about the progress of the project daily and made sure that we were happy with results thus far. At end of the project, I have to say my yard has never looked better. I love it!!!! Thank you to Leo and crew. I would most definitely recommend M&L landscaping to anyone that is looking to beautify their landscaping. I am highly confident that you will not be disappointed. Most definitely will use again in the near future."

Small jobs welcome

"I couldn’t be happier with the work from AML Landscaping! They removed a large tree and trimmed several shrubs around my yard, and the results are outstanding. The crew was professional, punctual, and friendly. Their pricing was very fair, and they left everything spotless when they were done. It’s rare to find a company that combines skill, efficiency, and genuine kindness — but these folks nailed it. My yard has never looked this clean and professional. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for top-quality tree and landscaping work!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

You should plant trees at least 15 to 20 feet away from your house, and more if the tree will grow large and spread its limbs. Trees pose several dangers to houses when planted too close. They can litter the roof with leaves and branches, create fire hazards, make a ladder for larger pests, and even damage the foundation as their roots grow.

The landscaping elements that add the most value are often the basics. A well-maintained, attractive lawn can have a return on investment (ROI) of up to 217%. Routine lawn maintenance, such as edging and mulching, can provide an ROI of over 100%. Other high-value projects include upgrading your front walkway, which can offer a 100% ROI, and planting trees. Projects like adding decks, patios, outdoor lighting, irrigation systems, fire pits, and outdoor kitchens also add value and enjoyment, though their direct financial ROI may be less than 100% in some cases.

The best time to plant a tree is in the spring, so the roots have time to grow into the surrounding soil before winter sets in. Some people recommend planting in the late fall. However, planting in the spring reduces the stress on the tree, as it will be emerging from dormancy, giving it the full spring and summer ahead to acclimate and put down roots into the soil.

Buying plants from a nursery is one thing, but ensuring that they are properly planted is another. While you might not need to hire a landscaper for every plant that you buy from a nursery, it’s a great idea to have their expertise and experience to plant larger items, like burlapped trees or specialty plants like rose bushes. Even better, before making a trip to a nursery to buy new plants, consult a local landscaper to test your soil for pH levels, soil texture, and phosphorus and potassium levels to help determine the best plants for your area.

Yes, it is possible to add too little mulch. Anything less than 1 inch will likely result in too little coverage around your plants, allowing weeds to grow through and minimizing the positive effects that a deeper bed of mulch would have, like maintaining proper soil moisture and insulating the ground.
