"Frank did a great job on my carpets which were loaded with stains. He was unable to get only one out and asked if I wanted him to use a stronger, very smelly cleaner. I told him that the carpet was beautiful except for that spot and he should take care of it. He cleaned it and I couldn't even smell the chemical. I would definitely rehire him."

"Replacing a complex wooded deck requires many different cuts. He was able to navigate the problems and come up with solutions that pleased me very much. He also installed an additional railing that was much appreciated by my wife and I. This was a 3 level deck."

"Wow! I must have said that word 10 times while working with Ricardo and his team at Expect Painters! We have a large 3-tiered deck that had never been treated prior to us moving in. I called Ricardo, expecting to wait until spring. Not only did he squeeze us in, but he power washed our deck, the back of the house, and stained the whole deck for us! He even took care to remove one part and spray it and then put it back onto the deck for us! He washed the deck one day and stained it another day. He was fast and efficient. To say I was impressed is an understatement! We will be calling him for any future work we may need! It honestly looks like a completely new deck! Thank you to Ricardo and his team! Please use him! You will not regret it! He is kind and reasonable. So easy to work with and an absolutely pleasure to have around! I trusted him entirely with this project and was VERY comfortable with him and his team working on our home!. Great work!"

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

You do not have to dig footers for a deck as long as it meets local code and holds up to weather in your area. If you live somewhere that experiences high winds and earthquakes, you may need to dig for your deck posts. Deck blocks, post anchors with base plates, and helical pile systems are the three no-dig deck post options you can choose from if local code permits.

Choices include wood, composite, and hardwoods, each with unique benefits.

Yes, transforming a deck into a sunroom is an absolute possibility. Building a sunroom involves framing in the deck area with walls, adding windows, and affixing a roof. This project is not an easy task, but it does provide a stylish addition to your house. Not all deck designs support this type of renovation project, so consult a professional deck builder before beginning.

It’s important to make sure the wood on a new deck is properly seasoned. Seasoning a deck is simple: Once you build it (or have a pro do so), just leave it alone so it can acclimate to the environment. If you don’t give the deck proper seasoning time before staining, the stain can lock in any lingering moisture and cause mold, rot, and other moisture issues down the road. Give the wood at least four to eight weeks to season before you stain.

In most cases, your deck will need some form of deck footing to hold it in place, preventing moisture from rotting your wood and decreasing your deck’s lifespan. Concrete deck blocks are the most common type of footing for floating decks. Some homeowners use ground-level deck footings. For added security, consider digging and laying your ground-level footings below ground.
