"Leo was very professional, a good listener and answered our questions patiently. He and his team came on time and finished the work on schedule. I had one big kitchen and three bathrooms to fit granite countertops and they did excellent job. Very experienced, efficient and yet pay attention to details too. It has been almost six months and looking back it was clear we made the right decision hiring him."

Small jobs welcome

"I had never used Home Advisor, but I need new countertop in bfor Christmas and contractors I called didnt even return my calls. Dave not only came to the house the day after my call, but gave me a fair price for estimate. He returned to measure last Monday and installed my beautiful quartz counter top on Friday. I'm over the moon with the quality and attention to detail that his company delivered. He and his crew were professional and pleasant and cleaned up after install. He does all his fabrication to stone himself with no middleman to drive up price. Would reccomend this company highly!"

"We hired Kitchen Options based on the recommendation of friends who had used them to reface their cabinets. We were extremely pleased with their attention to detail, the friendliness of the installers, their keeping us in the loop at all times, and the cleanup at the end. We would recommend them highly for their price and professionalism."

"Smooth sailing from start to finish, hired them through a mutual friend who also hired them, met with Daniel came prepared had samples in hand of the colors I would be intersted in, Very knowledgeble knew what he was talking about, we chose the stone, he measured the jpb, and a week later they were back with the countertop to be installed.  Everything was very organized, and professional, I've already given their information to more people."

Countertops and Backsplashes questions, answered by experts

The least expensive way to build a kitchen countertop is to choose an affordable material. For example, laminate countertops cost about $1,250, while Corian® countertops cost $4,000 on average. Common wood and laminate tend to be the most affordable and DIY-friendly, which will save you the cost of labor. Otherwise, look for lower-end solid surface countertops or ceramic and stone tile. These cost less than natural stone slabs.

The least porous countertop material is engineered quartz. Made from a blend of natural quartz and resins, it is non-porous and highly resistant to stains, scratches, and bacteria. This makes quartz countertops exceptionally low-maintenance and durable, ideal for kitchens and bathrooms where hygiene and easy upkeep are priorities. Other non-porous options include solid surface materials like Corian, which also offer excellent resistance to moisture and stains.

The angle at which you cut countertops depends on the material, your intended outcome, and the location of the cut. For example, rather than cutting a straight 90-degree angle for internal corners, cut edges at a 45-degree angle to give a clean, professional look. For outside edges, most homeowners want squared-off sides, so 90-degree angles can make the most sense there. Because you want to get angles exactly right to minimize seams and eliminate the need for patching, be sure to measure several times before cutting and use the right equipment to get sharp, accurate angles.

If you need to make curved cuts on your laminate countertop, get out the jigsaw. A jigsaw with a fine blade will allow you to follow curved traced lines. It is important to cut slowly and to let the jigsaw do most of the work with you acting as a guide.

Formica® is a brand name for the laminate countertops it produces. Laminate is the generic term for a countertop material made from layers of paper topped with an image layer, all compressed under high pressure to form a solid, easy-to-maintain surface. Other brands that produce laminate countertops include WilsonArt® and Arborite®.

When comparing Formica to other laminates, the choice often comes down to personal preference. Formica is a popular brand known for its durability and affordability. Due to its brand recognition, it may be slightly more expensive than generic laminate options, but the name often carries an expectation of a certain quality standard.
