"Recently had annual maintenance performed on our basement sump pump system . Louie our tech was courteous, on time and tidy. Would highly recommend this company if you have a basement water problem. We've had our system for at least 15 years and never a drop of water in basement!"
"The work performed was incredible. AJ and his team are real pros. The cost for all of the work they performed was more than reasonable. AJ came out for an estimate and explained the work he was going to do and gave me options on what different things he could do to help me out. He kept my wife and I in the loop every step of the way during the project. In addition, the crew didn't rush the job. They made sure the job was done right. Before the work was performed our basement would flood very easily when it rained. After the work was performed it rained and the basement was bone dry. This was a huge relief. Not having to mop up water every fifteen minutes was wonderful. Our sump pump doesn't run half as much as it used to. Basically, my wife and I are thrilled with the work performed and highly recommend AJ and his team to anyone "
"We recently had a radon system installed. Thomas was easy to work with, reliable and seemed deeply knowledgeable about radon and radon systems. The process went as described and the basement radon reading decreased in the first few days and has stayed reduced. We had the system installed over a month ago, but I wanted to be sure to give a review."
"Our property was built in 1901 And had a stone foundation, Daniel and the team came in and repaired the entire foundation walls and installed French drains, he was on time for his appointments/delivering estimates and contracts, his price was good, and his staffs are friendly, The overall experience working with the team was great, we highly recommend his team to others."
"These guys are the greatest! They saved us a lot of money! We had a dumpster before the bullbag and for 3 tons of material and a week rental of the dumpster it cost us $486! We own the bullbag now, had a full bag - 3.5 tons - picked up and it was only $229! We didn't have any rental charges, excess weight fees, or anything! These guys did everything they said they would! OMG! Everyone should use these guys!!!!! Also, I got the bullbag back! I never have to buy another one and its ready to use whenever I feel like doing a clean out or renovation."
The first step involved trenching the inside perimeter of the basement slab, which was relatively new and required substantial work with jack hammers (very dusty and noisy). The trench was about 18" wide and 18" deep to accommodate the perforated pipe and the surrounding material consisting of hard plastic "peanuts" to facilitate drainage. Workmen also installed corrugated plastic on the vertical wall surfaces so that should any water enter higher up on the wall it would be directed into the trench. The trench was then covered with a clear plastic vapor barrier, after which cement was floated over everything and leveled with the rest of the slab. NOTE: the trenching is very destructive and the workmen will remove any finished elements - baseboard, sheetrock, framing, carpet etc. - to access the walls and foundation. Be prepared to budget repair work on any already-finished areas once the work is done.
The team was invariably punctual, thoughtful and kept the work area clean. Charlie stopped by regularly to ensure the project was moving along as planned and helpful throughout. When finished, the crew cleaned up well and left the site in good shape, although it took some time finally to get rid of the dust. My only disappointment was that the backup batteries were left in their cases on the floor, when it seemed that they should have been up on a shelf away from harm.
The good news is that our basement has not seen any moisture since the system was installed. We've experienced some bad storms combining rain over frozen ground and snow and water clearly was getting through the foundation. We saw the pumps moving significant amounts of water out of the house and the system has been completely reliable. Finally we were able to finish the basement as we'd hoped because we're confident the drainage system is protecting the investment.
"I recently had foundation repair work done and couldn't be happier with the results. The crew was professional efficient and took the time to explain every step of the process. They stabilized the foundation and address all the cracks. The job was done on time and the area was cleaned up thoroughly. Highly recommended for anyone needing reliable foundation work."
Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts
You should take care of any sign of water in your basement, whether it’s dampness after heavy rain or puddles of water on the floor. Besides potentially causing a health hazard, the moisture can damage your home’s structure and foundation. Furthermore, mold can grow quickly and spread throughout the rest of your home. With mold remediation costs ranging between $1,200 and $3,400, it’s best to avoid mold issues by fixing the leak.
Access to commercial-grade products and equipment, ensuring thorough coverage and long-lasting protection.
Crawl spaces are the more desirable option overall because they provide additional space for storage and utilities, but they are more expensive to install and maintain. Slab foundations are considered a better option in warmer climates where the depth of the frost line isn’t an issue because they’re more affordable, but crawl spaces are better in areas where the frost line is deep or where flooding can be an issue.
Sandbags are the most common and efficient way to create a flood barrier at home. Some local authorities pass them around to homes before the risk of a flood. Otherwise, you can use flood-proof house materials, like burlap or woven plastic bags, to make sandbags and fill them with sand or cat litter. Make sure that when you stack them, they’re tightly laid on top of each other, creating the effect of a firm wall against accumulating water.
Yes, usually you will need some kind of vapor barrier on the exterior walls when the framing is attached to concrete and masonry surfaces.
