"Your company is outstanding and we are extremely happy. Our technician Garett was prompt and polite. He was very knowledgeable and explained things about our situation that we were totally unaware of. Potentially saving us time and money down the road. Garrett was attentive to our to our needs and was very careful of our pets as he was working. We would definitely use Beacon Drain Service again."

"Wendel's team worked extremely efficiently to complete my full perimeter interior french drain and sump pump installation after a previous contractor stopped showing up for the work. They were done in a day when the previous project was taking months."

"The job was fairly straightforward and I had already procured the sink and most of the additional supplies but the job required some replumbing of both the water supply and drain. The master plumber worked efficiently and professionally and the job was completed in a few hours. The cost was determined from a standard table in a notebook but does not take into account the complexity of the job or whether materials are supplied by owner. Since I supplied most of the materials (plumber supplied valves and pipe and drain fittings) the price seemed rather high for around 3 hours work. However, I've had no professional plumbing work done recently and thus have nothing to compare it to. The plumber was very pleasant and professional and the work of high quality. I have no other complaints."

"We had several Angie's List contractors come by to give us estimates to our project. While MacCauley Brothers was at the upper end of the prices we got, it was apparent to us that Bernie was the most knowledgeable of any of the contractors. He came up with a couple great ideas to make our project look even better. One idea was the re-route the water from a drain spout on the garage to an output in our lawn so all that water is now diverted from going on to our driveway. He also directed us to two granite and paver suppliers that had the items we needed and delivered everything when we needed them to and a great nursery where we found a huge selection of plants for the yard.
The crew who did the work were two guys who worked hard for all six days they were on our project. They dug down about four feet of our driveway to get rid of any clay that was there. Bernie had told us that if all the clay was not removed, the pavers would end up shifting because the clay was so soft. I cannot stress enough that the job these two guys did was phenomenal. Seriously -- like a work of art. We are fairly new to the neighborhood and when the work was done, while we would be doing some yardwork in the front yard, people would stop at our house and tell us how beautiful our driveway and walkway look. People (strangers!) have stopped their cars while driving in front of the house to tell us how great everything looks.
The cost was higher than we had anticipated but Bernie's crew did a top notch job. We have the best looking driveway and walkway in the entire neighborhood and there are very nice houses all around us. We do not regret busting the budget to get a fabulous look.
We are looking to rip up some bushes and tress from the front of our house and have already contacted MacCauley Brothers to do the work. We will continue to hire them to handle our landscaping + hardscaping projects.

Storm Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

Homes need solid construction to survive a hurricane, including these parts:

  • A secure foundation at the right elevation for your home’s flood threat level

  • Hurricane straps to secure your home’s foundation

  • Waterproof basement sealant or rubberized sheeting that directs water away from the foundation

  • A strong, well-attached roof that’s firmly secured to the framing

  • Shutters or roll-down window protectors that you can close outside to prevent broken windows

  • A garage door bracing system to keep high winds from caving in or tearing off the door

  • Deadbolts to keep your exterior doors in place against wind pressure and floodwater

Each has its use, depending on the scenario. Security doors are primarily intended to keep people out of the home, while storm doors are used to protect the home from extreme weather. Both tend to be made from heavy-duty metal and may include glass panels to allow light to enter the home. Storm doors can feature mesh screens, just like screen doors, to allow for increased ventilation and to keep out pests. Security doors rarely, if ever, have mesh screens.

While storm doors should be tightly fitted, an airtight seal can actually trap moisture in the space. This can lead to condensation and icing on your door. Ideally, you will have a tight seal that still allows for proper air circulation and ventilation.

Like many common door problems, warping can be caused by improper installation. When a door isn't installed correctly, there's a good chance that the poor seal is allowing moisture and drafts to seep through. When this happens, humidity will build up in the wood until it swells and warps.

Yes, modular homes are typically safe for areas prone to hurricanes. In regions at risk of severe storms, local zoning guidelines often require that these dwellings be built using materials designed to endure strong winds and heavy rainfall, ensuring they meet the safety standards for such conditions.
