"Nicolas was prompt and professional. I had four items that needed his attention and he completed all four in a reasonable amount of time. He explained and showed me the items that he replaced. I would definitely hire him again if I ever needed plumbing services. I will be recommending him to anyone who needs a competent, professional plumbing contractor."

"I recently had an installation done by Bathfitters, and I could not be more pleased with the entire experience! From start to finish, the staff demonstrated the utmost professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail. Every team member was knowledgeable, courteous, and eager to answer all my questions, making me feel completely at ease throughout the process. The installation itself was impeccable! The quality of their work is outstanding, and the result has transformed my bathroom into a space that feels brand new. The installers were meticulous, efficient, and respectful of my home, leaving everything spotless when they were done. Iâ m genuinely thrilled with the final product and the entire experience. Bathfitters truly went above and beyond, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for top-notch service and a beautiful bathroom makeover. I would like to give a special recognition and thanks to Tony, Dustin and John Loranger."

"Ed and Bob were incredibly detail oriented from design to implementation. Very high quality solution done in a short time period - worked within the confines of my very old home and did the work with lots of care not to disturb existing structure. Extremely professional work (end of day tools kept neatly, no trash, very organized job) and clean. Highly recommend for french drain or basement drain systems."

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

Acrylic tubs are extremely durable and rarely chip or crack. Even when frequently used, tubs made with this material are largely resistant to damage. However, damage may occur as the tub ages. They can also crack from damage from heavy objects and cleaners or a lack of support.

If you love long soaks, appreciate spa-style decor, and don't mind the extra space, a Roman tub is a beautiful addition to your bathroom.

We don’t recommend using a tub liner to cover up cracks in a bathtub. Instead, you should repair the cracks yourself if you have the experience or hire a pro. Cracks may seem like small surface imperfections, but they can lead to much larger issues, so repair them as soon as you can.

Whether converting a tub to a shower is worth it depends on your personal circumstances and priorities. For many, a shower is a safer option that reduces the risk of slip-and-fall accidents, making it a valuable upgrade. It can also be a worthwhile conversion if a shower is more practical for your lifestyle and you rarely use the tub. However, there are potential downsides to consider. The cost, which can range from $1,200 to $8,000, can be a deterrent. Additionally, if you have young children, a bathtub is often easier for bathing them. Finally, removing the only bathtub in a home can potentially lower its resale value in the eyes of some buyers.

A drop-in tub is just one of the types of bathtubs available. Depending on your needs and the space available, you can consider an alcove tub for quick installation, a whirlpool tub for added relaxation, a freestanding tub for a statement piece, or a corner tub to take advantage of the space in a larger bathroom.
