"I recently had my shingle roof replaced and I?m very happy with the results. The team was professional, punctual, and completed the job efficiently. The quality of the work is excellent, and the new roof looks great. They kept the work area clean and communicated well throughout the process. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a roof replacement."

"Brian was very responsive. He called me within an hour of my inquiry. He met me at my home that day, looked over the job, gave me a price, and offered to compete the work the next day. I accepted the price, he showed up to repair the leak. While he was working on the room, he noticed that the vent gaskets were cracking, so he called me to inform me and offered to repair that as well. During their work, I visited the site. During the visit, I noticed a spot where the sheathing had separated from the roof trusses, and Brain repaired that as well. The job was done well, and it blends in to the rest of the roof well. His workers cleaned up afterwards. Anyone would have a hard time noticing that any work was done. I was very satisfied. I would recommend Brian LeBlanc Roofing to anyone who needs roof repair or replacement."

Skylights questions, answered by experts

Repairing or replacing a skylight generally takes between a few hours to a full day. Simple repairs might take 2 to 4 hours, depending on the complexity of the problem. The total time can vary based on factors like weather conditions, the accessibility of the skylight, and the extent of the work required, such as replacing the entire unit versus performing minor repairs.

Skylights might sometimes increase your homeowners insurance premium, but the increase is usually minimal. Some home insurance companies won’t adjust your premium with the addition of a skylight, so you can contact your insurer or your professional skylight installer to ask about any expected changes. It’s crucial to have an expert install the skylight, as insurance companies may not insure your roof or cover water damage that results from a non-professional skylight installation.

An improperly installed skylight could potentially impact your roof's warranty. This happens because roofing penetration is necessary during skylight installation. Check your warranty information to verify. In most cases, having skylights professionally installed with proof that flashing is being done to specifications can be enough to preserve your roof's warranty.

Prevent future skylight issues by conducting regular inspections, ensuring gutters are clean to prevent water pooling, applying protective sealants periodically, and trimming overhanging branches that might cause physical damage to the skylight.

When planning out skylights and deciding how big they should be, it's important to look at the dimensions of the interior space. In addition to changing a room aesthetically, skylights influence the illumination and temperature of the space below. The U.S. Department of Energy recommends that a skylight’s size should never be more than 5% of the floor area in rooms with many windows.
