"The first guy that came out to clean my carpet, sofas and mattress did not do a good job at all. He rushed and finished a 2 hr cleaning job in 1 hour. I was very dissatisfied. I called carpet cleaning experts to complain and without hesitation they said they will send another guy out to re clean. Doug came out to clean the following week and this time the job was done right, he was thorough and professional, he even took pictures of the noticeable spots that was still on my sofas and carpet before he cleaned. After he was done cleaning, I was very happy with how much cleaner and better my carpet and sofas looked and smelled the second time around, and the spots were gone or much less noticeable. I will call and request Doug again if I should need them in the future."

"Bay State Carpet & Upholstery cleaned my very dirty furniture and it came out amazing. Very professional. He did a great job with the amount of stains that had accumulated in the 5 or so years that I have had my furniture. Looks brand new again. I would most definitely recommend them."

Carpet Cleaning questions, answered by experts

To effectively clean fine dust after construction, start by dusting high surfaces like ceiling fans, walls, and window sills, allowing the dust to settle. Then, use a vacuum with a HEPA filter on all surfaces, including furniture, carpets, and floors, making a second pass for thoroughness. Follow up by mopping hard surfaces with a damp mop to capture any lingering particles. It's also important to clean appliances, vacuum HVAC returns and supply vents, and replace the air filters. Properly ventilate the home to help clear out remaining dust, and avoid sweeping, which can spread the dust around.

How you freshen a musty carpet depends on what’s causing it to smell funky. Baking soda can soak up some smells, and vinegar is a natural deodorizer. These DIY solutions can lift out light odors. However, steam cleaning or hot water extraction may be the best way to clean your carpet when the smell is deeply ingrained. These penetrate deep into carpet fibers and can remove musty mold spores and pet urine smells.

Besides feeling icky grit when walking barefoot in your home, not mopping the floors can create health risks. Pollen, dirt, dust, and overall filth lead to allergen, bacteria, and even mold buildup, polluting your home and creating an unhygienic environment. You also risk damaging the floors due to stains and scratches with neglect. Lastly, your home will become less inviting due to odors from the lack of cleaning.

Generally, it’s recommended that you vacuum your carpet once per week and steam clean them every six to 12 months. If you have children and pets, you might wish to steam clean more frequently to remove stains and wear-and-tear. Consider steam cleaning carpet every 6 months in these scenarios.

Age, medical, or stress-related issues can be why your four-legged friend pooped on your carpet. Medical-related issues like parasites can also cause your pet to vomit (though if you also have that problem, learning how to remove vomit from your carpet is similar to removing poop). Consult your dog's veterinarian if you’re unsure what’s causing these accidents.
