"Fantastic job as previously reviewed. we hired them for the spring clean up, they spent a decent amount of time to do everything properly, and also cleaned a tremendous amount of acorns from the grass, that makes taking care of the lawn much easier. we would definitely recommend this business and would hire again."

Small jobs welcome

"Bob and his team are terrific. Bob has done my yard and lawn care for several years now, and he is consistently wonderful. Always responsive and very flexible, putting up with my occasionally idiosyncratic requests, and always willing to work creatively as my husband and I are trying to reclaim a rather unruly back yard as we shift from a lawn to shade plants. Bob is awesome!"

"This was the best experience! Bernie came over to my home and looked at my disastrous lawn- brutalized by grubs! He gave me his advice about the various approaches I could take and then wrote up a thorough estimate that included the different options. The price was very reasonable! When his crew came to put in the lawn, they were professional and attentive to details. They removed all the grub-infested soil, cleaned out my garden and under my shrubs and even the wells by cellar windows. They put in the lawn, treated one section of the yard that wasn't even in the "deal" and seeded that as well. They did this all in two days and left the yard looking better than it ever has and I've been here for 34 years. I can't thank them enough! The work crew, Bernie, Nolisha- all of them are skilled professionals and very kind! I need a new front walk and in the future, I intend to hire them for this project as well. I highly recommend this company!"

"I hired D&G Landscape & Masonry to do a major spring cleanup of my father‘s property. It had been several years since the property had been maintained and D&G arrived early yesterday morning with a crew and I can’t thank them enough for the amazing job they did. Everything was so overgrown that it was overwhelming to even begin to think how we would get everything removed. The crew went to work and removed a truckload or more of weeds, Japanese bamboo, and every other kind of weed you could imagine. The place has been completely transformed. They also removed the front lawn and put soil down and seeded it and did an amazing job. Every weed on the property was removed. They worked so hard and did such an amazing job. I cannot thank them enough."

Lawn Care questions, answered by experts

Bermuda grass may be drought-resistant, but it still needs to be watered once or twice a week. The suggested amount of water Bermuda grass needs varies from season to season. Bermuda grass needs about 1 inch of water a week in summer, fall, and winter; it needs up to ¾ inch in spring.

You can leave grass clippings on the lawn, depending on their length. You don’t want to completely cover new grass and block it from sunlight, or encourage moss crowd out the more delicate grass. However, short clippings are usually fine to leave on the lawn. In some cases, they can be beneficial: Clippings can be a source of fertilizer and help protect the ground as young grass blades develop.

You should wait about seven to 10 days after you top dress your lawn to mow. This will give the ground ample time to absorb the nutrients from the sand, topsoil, and compost, and help facilitate growth before you trim the existing grass. It’s also best to water the lawn frequently in the week or so after you top dress and before you mow.

Tipping is not mandatory, but is a nice gesture if you are satisfied with the service your lawn professional provided. The amount you should tip depends on your area, service, and time of year. Typically, most people tip between $10 and $100 per crew member. For minor services, people tend to tip less than large jobs.

If you're already planning to hire an electrician and you know that you'll get billed the minimum call-out charge, you might as well make the most of it by having the contractor do another small job like replacing a light switch or electrical outlet. Even if you're paying for a new coaxial outlet, which costs several hours in labor, you may be able to save a little or maximize value by getting them to do other related jobs. For example, if you're having a coaxial cable moved, it's worth checking if you also need another electrical outlet in the new location or considering where else you would benefit from a new outlet . The cost to install an electrical outlet is around $200.
