"We moved in a new construction home but have experienced a number of water leaks recently - a water leak around our deck door, as well as leaks through various windows throughout the home. Tom Cromer and his crew were extremely professional and responsive, and did a great job identifying the source of our leaks and fixing them. We’ve had a number of contractors attempt to fix our door deck leak, ineffectively, to the point where water infiltrated the floor and stained the ceiling of the room below. Tom was honest and straightforward, and advised us to go with extensive caulking and a few other additions to our existing deck door, rather than installing a new one and / or a storm door which would have cost considerably more. We are finally dry, despite recent heavy rains."
"We used Bob’s handyman services for the first time last week. We chose him based on his glowing Angi reviews, and they did not exaggerate. He responded very quickly to my original request for information regarding his availability and fee. We had a few communications back and forth before scheduling a date. He arrived on time, set up a folding table with his tools, and went to work. We gave him a list of small jobs that had grown over the years. They included caulking around the kitchen counter and bath tub, fixing a fallen shelf, replacing hinges on a door, installing new smoke detectors and a door lock, and fixing a wonky storm door. He even replaced light bulbs in some hard-to-reach ceiling light fixtures. Though most of the projects were relatively small, he was meticulous in doing them and cleaning up after himself. And in talking to him about other projects he’s done, I have every confidence in using him for larger projects, which we intend to do. He was very professional, courteous, and I learned quite a bit just from talking with him. We are so happy to finally have these projects done and we already have a list for “round 2.”"

Brighton features general handyman professionals, property maintenance specialists for multi-family buildings, and experts in small space optimization. Helpful?
In Brighton, be cautious of quotes lacking proof of insurance, clear written contracts, or local references. Watch for unusually low bids, requests for large upfront payments, or vague project timelines. Avoid professionals unfamiliar with Brighton’s building codes, lead-safe requirements, or multi-unit property rules. Always request detailed, itemized estimates and confirm the contractor’s experience with Brighton’s unique housing types and seasonal challenges.
Helpful?
In Brighton, set up temporary gates or barriers to separate children and pets from active work zones, especially in homes with narrow hallways or shared entryways. Use lead-safe and dust-minimizing practices common in Brighton’s older housing stock. Secure all tools nightly, ventilate well during painting or repairs, and opt for low-VOC materials. Notify neighbors in multi-unit buildings about project schedules to minimize disruptions.
Helpful?
In Brighton, start spring by inspecting flat roofs, brickwork, and basements for water intrusion after snowmelt. Summer is ideal for checking AC units, pest barriers, and repainting wood trim. In fall, focus on gutter cleaning, weatherproofing windows, and prepping heating systems. Winter requires monitoring for ice dams and drafts. Coordinate with property managers in multi-unit buildings to streamline seasonal maintenance.
Helpful?
Brighton’s cold winters can delay exterior handyman projects due to snow and ice, while spring’s freeze-thaw cycles may cause foundation cracks and water leaks. High summer humidity affects paint drying and can lead to mold in older homes. Fall leaf accumulation requires frequent gutter maintenance. Dense housing and proximity to the Charles River often mean projects must be carefully scheduled around weather and building access.
