Emergency services offered

"It went great, Gabe and his team were affordable and willing to work with us on cost. They arrived promptly when they said they would and were very responsive to us. Gabe constantly checked in with us to make sure we were happy with the service. They added missing shingles and did other little things to improve the house without us asking them to do so or quoting it. When the job was complete it was very well done and we were very satisfied. We would recommend Gabe and his team to anyone looking to have their home painted."

"It went great and at a very reasonable price! They had their work cut out for them with the amount of buildup I had in the gutters due to the amount of trees around the house. We recently had moved in to the house so unsure when the last time it was done. I would highly recommend their services."

"I never heard back from the service provider. Weeks later, Angie's List notified me that he had sent me a message via the message center. I wish he would have called me, and I encourage him to change his method of contact to suit his customers."

"Edson was timely in response to our request, polite, asked relevant questions and promptly produced an estimate. We ultimately did not select his company to do the work, but he was a finalist and his quote was competitive.

Sandblasting Services questions, answered by experts

There are two ways sandblasting could be dangerous: improper use of the equipment so that the stream touches your skin, and air particles created during the sandblasting process. While the first is easier to avoid and fairly obvious, the second has the potential to be more serious and is much more difficult to understand. This is why you should always hire a pro to sandblast, as they understand the dangers associated with the process. If proper safety measures are taken, then sandblasting is rarely dangerous.

If you’re DIYing the project, it could take up to a week if you aren’t able to dedicate full-time hours. If you hire a professional and they arrive with a team, expect your stairs to be sanded in as little as 2 hours (for simple projects). Finishing the stairs takes a while longer as there are drying and sealing times to consider, but the actual work will take much less time than the sanding portion.

Sandblasting refers to the process of cleaning a surface using compressed air and aggregate. Soda blasting is the gentlest type of this method, but it differs from sandblasting that uses mineral or other aggregate, since sodium bicarbonate breaks apart more easily than other forms of blast media and, therefore, cannot be reused.

Sanding and pressure washing serve different purposes in deck maintenance, so one is not necessarily better than the other. Pressure washing is ideal for annual cleaning to remove dirt, grime, mold, and mildew. Sanding is a deeper restoration method used to smooth rough surfaces, remove an old finish, and prepare the wood for a new coat of stain or paint. The ideal process for refinishing a deck is to first clean it (with a power washer), then sand it, and finally apply the new stain or finish. While cleaning should be done annually, sanding and staining are typically needed only every one to three years.

Because these two systems have different applications, there is no definitive answer to which is better. When working with sturdy materials, sandblasting is cheaper and faster, but more delicate projects require soda blasting. Before choosing either option, consider your specific needs, particularly your ultimate goal (cleaning, removing rust, prepping for painting, etc.), the material, and your budget.
