"Arnul and crew have to be one of the most hard working, no nonsense contractors I have had the pleasure of dealing with. They went about their business in a very efficient and professional manner. At the conclusion of the project they cleaned up the job site as if they were never there (except for the new beautiful fence they put up) and Arnul did a walk about around the entire fence for quality control to ensure it was perfect. He identified any boards that might not have had all the proper amount of nails or fasteners and immediately corrected on the spot. The end result is a beautiful fence that not only enhances my property but provides privacy and is functional as well. I have no reservation on recommending Gonzalez Fence and Iron to anyone who needs a new fence. Great Job!"

"He called promptly and finished another job and came by the house and gave me an estimate. He came back after I hired him and promptly did the job in 3 hours thought he had estimated it to be a 4 hour job. He repaired my chain link fence where my dogs were getting out. He patched both sides. He also repaired the top bar in the chain link fence. All, in all, I was very satisfied with his work and would consider hiring him for other jobs in the future."

"Company was at my house with a bid the day I called. A few days later, my new fence was installed an it looks great. Installers were professional, polite and made sure I was happy with the fence before end of job. They also made sure my yard was clean and they hauled off whatever was needed. The installers were also very cautious not to let my Lab escape the yard as well which I appreciated very much. I highly recomend this company for any fence needs. Excellent service !!!!"

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Do you need a permit to build a fence if you are simply replacing an existing fence? Whether you need a permit in this case depends on your local laws and regulations. Most municipalities consider a fence replacement project as being equal to building a new fence, so you likely will need a permit. Check with your local building inspection department or zoning department to see if you need a permit. If you hire a local fence contractor, this pro can take care of obtaining all permits for you.

Wire fences are generally the most inexpensive type of farm fence to install, especially compared to lumber. Barbed wire is one of the cheapest options due to its simple materials, making it a good choice for low budgets and for confining docile animals in large spaces. Other options include hog wire and woven wire fences, which are strong, long-lasting, and relatively easy to repair. While wire fences require less lumber and reduce overall project costs, they are often considered less aesthetically pleasing than traditional wood fences.

Fabricating an aluminum fence costs about $4,350 on average, ranging from about $2,450 to $6,500. Your fencing costs can run as low as $750 or as high as $11,000 or more, depending on the fence's size, complexity, and geographic location. You should consider additional cost factors including the thickness of the aluminum, height of the fence, necessary permits, and custom colors.

Vegetable gardens can easily become a convenient food bank for your local animal population, whether it’s squirrels stealing fruit or rabbits munching on freshly grown veggies. If you want to keep those critters out, it helps to put a fence around your vegetable garden that’s at least a couple of feet tall to deter any animals from getting past it. Just make sure your fence doesn’t interrupt the amount of sunlight your garden needs to thrive.

While power washing isn't a requirement before you stain a fence, it can make the job much easier and faster while reducing manual labor requirements. The stain will not work if the wood is full of dirt and dust, so power washing, sometimes called pressure washing, is a fast and effective way to prepare the wood for staining. Remember that you need to stain or repaint relatively soon after the wood has dried so that there isn’t time for dust and dirt to build up again.
