This extends far beyond the workers though. After all of the work was finally completed, I received and paid the bill. Shortly thereafter, I have received a second bill with no explanation. "After 4 years of trying to find a reliable handyman to address the inevitable repairs and maintenance on my 4 unit apartment building and being continually disappointed, I finally found Lee on April 4, 2018. I was in New Orleans to help my son move into one of the units. The first job was painting the apartment. Lee and his helper knew that the walls must be cleaned first. Something many painters ignore. They spent hours washing all the walls and you should have seen how dirty the rinse water got. They taped off all the moulding and removed all switch plates. They cleaned all the windows and then patched. Being a perfectionist, I was happy. They started on my son's apartment on Wednesday and worked until late Friday to finish. Being impressed with that work, I decided to get him started on my long list of deferred repairs. It's so nice to find someone who will do even the small jobs and not price each task individually. Lee works quickly and efficiently and the work is top notch. He was 30 feet up on the roof hosing out the gutters. He went in the attic to find where the roof was leaking and then fixed it and then waited until the next rain to be sure it was fixed before repairing the rain damage to dining room ceiling. He replaced tub spouts, fixed a running toilet, installed smart locks on several doors, put power strips in the bedrooms, glass shelves above sinks in 3 bathrooms and hung up a huge heavy mirror. One of the larger jobs was when he washed and stained the cypress pergola and fence. What a difference it made. Lee scrubbed the black stains off the cinder block wall, sanded and urethaned a section of wood floor damaged by a door fixed door to prevent it from happening again. He repaired center support of a bed that collapsed in no time at all, moved a window blind higher so the window didn't scrape the fabric, installed cord covers to hide the ugly TV cables and knew to paint them before attaching them to the wall. He fixed a broken screen, painted the rear balcony floor after sanding it nicely. Lee even went and picked up a new Speed Queen washer to save me money on store delivery and installed it after removing the old washer. Any many, many more projects that were driving me crazy. He's also a very nice guy and spent 8 years in the National Guard and attended LSU. Because I was staying in my son's apartment while all this work was being done and I was working on stuff at the same time, I got to know Lee well. I learned he only recently started his handyman business after working for 20 years in the construction trades. He showed me photos of a remodel he had done and also a room addition including framing, drywall and installing windows. He seemed to have all the tools he needed and never said that a job was not worth his time. I still have a few things for him to do on the building as of me writing this on 5/11/18 including replacing the railing on the balcony. When it is all done, Lee will be the guy my son and I call to keep up on the building maintenance so I never get this backlogged again."
